Recent Review: As I type this at 8:54 pm,there is loud music playing outside my door and teenagers openly smoking "blunts".This is in open view, even with what appears to be security cameras attached to the corners of each building. This is a frequent occurance, yetmanagement seems not to care. When contacted, they just say"alot of college kids live here".What they mean is,you have to listen to loud music and watch kids get high until 10:00 pm.Not to mention vandalism, public urination, and witness sexual activities.I've seen it all before, but only in third world countries.Candlewood is NOT a place for the professional man or woman. We need rest, after all...we work for a living.

Recent Review:The pool itself has structural damage. It appears the whole pool has shifted, concrete has cracked and now maintenance of the pool area has fallen off the edge. Condoms and condom wrappers throughout this area.

Maintenance has the worst attitude and will not take the intiative to do anything without approval. Several times needs of tenants have been stated to apt. mgt. with absolutely nothing to be done except "We have that on order!" or a plain stare.

People move in and then appear to move out just as fast.

Recent Review:My husband and I have been living in these apartments for going on three years. We are in our 5th month of a 1yr lease, and wishing we had bought a house last year instead of signing again. When we first moved in management was great and the people were fair, maintenance was somewhat prompt, the apartments were in good shape. Now, it's only been a few years and they spend more money on landscaping than on maintaining the buildings. But I'll start with the positive aspects first:The complex itself is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. We almost never hear our neighbors (maybe the outside door slam, but that's about it). We have a walk-on level apartment, which is very nice, and a great view down the mountain side. It's easy to give directions to the complex and very easy to get to downtown, the interstate, and the parkway. That's about it for the positives. On to the negatives:The second year, management changed. The manager when we moved in was a guy named Michael, he got things done. Broken A/C unit? Replaced! Keys won't go into the locks? Fixed! ..then he got transferred to another complex and someone else took over. Now we go up to the office and there are a bunch of girls sitting around laughing and talking. A/C unit frozen over, low on freon? "I'll get a maintenance guy on it right away" Two weeks later, A/C unit still frozen over? "I'll page a maintenance guy." Let's just say the unit has been frozen over for nearly two months and we've yet to see a maintenance man out there. Now on to the really fun stuff. I read a review about this apartment complex before we moved in, and was skeptical about it's validity..apparently it's really true. You can expect to lose power 95% of the time if the wind is blowing. If it's raining, /and/ the wind is blowing, go ahead and light some candles because the power's going out.Since we've moved in, we've also discovered they make plumbing and water mains out of thin ceramic, maybe even out of cardboard paper towel rolls. If it gets cold, expect to lose water. If it rains, expect to lose water. Between January and March of 2005 our water has been off 7 times, 5 of those with no notice, 1 of those we discovered at 7am on a Monday morning. It will be off all day, guaranteed. The water pressure is pathetic, and the water is extremely hard and will clog your faucets and showerheads with sediment within a month or two.Parking is laughable. Half of our parking lot is buried beneath a 2 inch red mud puddle. We had a derelict car in our lot for over a year (management knew about it, too, and the lease agreement has a paragraph about derelict cars!). The complex had some people come out and re-line the spaces, but if there was a car parked they just skipped that space. You can expect the maintenance guys to be in one of two places: either speeding around in a golf cart, or standing around the hole where the water pipes are broken. Our windows are rotting out, and we've supposedly been on the list for two years now to get them replaced. One of our neighbors tried to open one of his windows and it fell completely out of the wall. I think he said it took a week to get it replaced, and while he waited they propped the old one in the hole. You may think living near the woods with a great view is a good thing, and normally it is. Unless you consider that you almost have to take the complex to court to get the apartment sprayed for bugs. If you like cockroaches, cave crickets, spiders, and big black ants, expect to see them all over. There is a closet outside on our porch that is always flooded when it rains. The wiring is so bad that you can't plug in a hair dryer and an electric shaver at the same time without popping the breaker. Not only that, but the lights in the breeze way are miserable, it is always dark.Oh, and if you're planning on buying a house, you should try and schedule this around the end of your lease. There is no provision in the lease to get out of the apartment if you are buying a house. It has been such a hassle to live in these apartments, I am warning everyone I know away from them, and hopefully anyone reading this review.
