Recent Review:This is my first apartment, so I don't have a whole lot to compare it to, so maybe take this with a grain of salt. As far as the appearance goes, it's a lot better than some of the crapholes I found while looking for apartments in Anaheim. Compared to the apartment complexes next door and down the street, these are nicely maintained. Maintenance workers and gardeners are always around picking up trash, sweeping, and tending to the plants and lawns. Unfortunately, that's all the maintenance department here seems to be good at. I rented a studio apartment (and I will say it's bigger than many other studios and even 1 bedrooms I looked at), and after a week of heavy rain, the front door warped something awful. I couldn't even pull it closed. I called the leasing office and the chick said she'd send someone to come fix it. Three days later, I still had the same busted door. After spending half an hour on the phone with the Arnel emergency maintenance people, I got an on-site maintenance man who said nothing could be done until the next day. After almost a week of practically begging the leasing office and maintenance people to please come fix my door, I finally got a nice brand new door. After a month, another heavy rain hit and my nice brand new door warped. I called several times and was able to fanagle someone into coming the same day to repair it temporarily while they figured out what they were going to do. The maintenance guy was nice enough, and told me he'd see about getting a metal door put on because my unit has a history of warped doors, and getting a metal door would prevent this problem once and for all. This was visibly apparent by the repair work done on the door frame where the lock fits in from the door.Suffice it to say I never got a metal door because metal doors just aren't made to match the rest of the doors in the apartment community. I haven't had any problems since, but I feel like I've had to go through hell and back to get this fixed. I did not feel safe or that my valuables were safe while this door problem was going on. I am extremely happy that I have gotten a new job that requires me to relocate. I don't feel guilty at all about having to break my lease, but we'll see what the folks at Casa Madrid try to do to me. The studio apartments are fairly quiet, but it does depend a bit on your neighbors. When I walk past the 1 and 2 bedroom apartments to get my mail, there's always noise: screaming bratty kids, people playing music/movies really loud. Right now (2/2005) there is at least one 1 bedroom apartment that has been open since Christmas time. Maybe that should tell you something about this so-called community. As far as security, there are no gates around the front, just the parking lot. But at the same time, people have to be honest enough to close them otherwise there's no point in having a gate. Casa Madrid is down the street from a couple of liquor stores, three strip clubs and a Hooters. Traffic is a bitch from time to time because of the 57 freeway, Disneyland, the Anaheim Convention Center, the Anaheim Pond and Edison Field. The chick who lives in the apartment below me had the misfortune of having her car stolen, and the chick who lives next to me had her car broken into. I've been lucky so far, but we'll see. Parking is fine for people who only have one car because there are assigned spaces. Otherwise, get a garage if you can. Appearance is above-average like I said earlier. Office staff couldn't give a rat's ass about you once you sign the lease. Maintenance is a joke, and don't you let anyone try to tell you otherwise. The maintenance jerks at this place love to tell you how good they are. I swear, they are no better than the jackass who tries to pick you up in a bar. The condition of my unit wasn't bad. I can't complain. Noise isn't that bad like I said earlier, but like I said, it depends on the unit you get and the neighbors that come with it. Overall I am disappointed with my experience here. I can honestly say it's due to the door maintenance issue that did it for me. I can recommend this apartment, although not without warning. I'd definitely check out other places first if time allows.

Recent Review:I recently moved out and had the worst time getting my deposit back after taking 3 days to clean the place top to bottom. I had to eventually take them to court (at least process a small claims case) to get the money back. The manager is very unfriendly, and barely understands English. Other than that I didn't have too many problems with parking or repairs, but I was only there for 6 months. However, the great deal I went through with them...it's not worth your time. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Recent Review:The apartment, itself, is amazing for the price.Feels spacious, despite the actual square footage.Beautiful tile floors and counter tops in the kitchen, and tile floors and marble counter in the bathroom.Unfortunately, the management isn't as wonderful. They know my name, and they are almost painfully nice. That's actually kind of nice, but then there's the rent policy.Like most places, rent is due on the first of the month, and, like most places, there is a two day grace period. However, despite that, sometime between 9 am and noon on the first of the month, management leaves this nasty little note on your door.It reads:

Recent Review:When I was looking for an apartment, the management company was extremely co-operative!When I did a walk through, the management company agreed to make all the necessary repairs before moving in, the day before I moved in I went by to check on the repairs.NONE had been completed! The bathroom sealing was bulging down about 2.5 feet (water leaking from the upstairs, the apartment still had not been painted and numerous repairs needed to be completed. So move-in date was postponed 4 days, then again it was postponed four more days, and then finally three more days and I was needing to move immediately, since I was now paying rent on two places. The AM/PM Property Management Company PROMISED to complete all repairs within 30 days of moving in.It became a nightmare, calling, being given the run around; told,You sure do have a lot of problems.Every repair was a nightmare and constantly calling and calling. They would not return my calls, the receptions was so rude and said, you will have to live with the complex the way it is!I ended up making and paying for over $500.00 in repairs and never recovered the money! When I moved into the complex, I asked ifthey had any intentions of selling the building?Their promise of,Oh, no, the McGuire Estate has no intentions of selling the building! After moving into the complex and only being settled for 3 months, monthly inspections began almost monthly every three weeks. After living there for 11 months, the building sold, the new management raised the rent $300.00 with no improvement to be made, even though a lease had been signed for no increase for 12 months. The new management, Stratus Real Estate, Inc. was worse than the AM/PM if that is possible to believe. The manager would not return phone calls, refused to make repairs and was very unprofessional in her dealings. My opinion stay away from AM/PM Property Management and Stratus Real Estate they are niceas can be until you move in& then, they act as if they do not even know you!Be warned!

Recent Review:Let this be a warning for all you out there that are considing moving to Parkewood Village Apartments in Anaheim. (401 W. Orangewood Ave. especially Disney employee's)The apartment's seem nice especially from all those apartments in the area but in the end you pay for it.The management is really fake...stay away from Katherine (asst. manager) you can tell she's phoney a mile away....she'll lie to you even in front of you're face.Parking sucks if you plan on having family of friends over plan on picking & dropping them off because they won't find parking not even on the side street. If you need something fixed it'll take them 3 or 4 weeks to check it out....don't get me wrong if something breaks within your first 2months the management will be there to fix it in a heart beat but after a few months you'll be lucky if it'll continue happening. So many residence are moving out and I'm next.I've noticed that new tenents will stay there an average of 3months and they're gone.I even spoke to a few of them before leaving and they told me that Parkewood billed them for things that were not even broken....normal things that the management should fix....plan to be billed for carpet cleaning, and verticle blinds...and anything else that has to be done such as painting.Take pictures before and after u move in or out.ALSO YOU WILL BE BILLED FOR ALL UTILITIES SUCHS AS WATER, TRASH, GAS (WATER HEATER) & ELECTRIC...PARKEWOOD DOES NOT PAY FOR ANY UTILITIES.Also plan on having your car towed at least once or twice...mine was towed as well a few couple of neighbors for no reason at all. They are getting a kick back from the new towing company Southland something or another....and what's weird is one day I came home for lunch to find the Maintence supervisor having lunch with the tow truck drive.Don't say I warned you.Don't let the $100.00 deposit fool you....you will be kick in the face at the end.

Recent Review:We've been here over a month and were told there would be a maintenance request to address all our move in problems. Low rent "affordable housing" was all we could start out with for our first place. The kitchen and bathroom have at least 9 coats of paint on them and hinges painted as well so the cabinets don't close. The bathroom screen fell out. The bottoms in the kitchen drawers are warped and some slide around while the ceiling is exposed above the cabinets on the inside. The carport entrance gate is often broken outside and the kids here vandalize the mail boxes, picnic tables, and stick rocks and other items down in the bolt resting area on the secondary gates into the complex because there is only one gate key given per unit. The windows rattle loudly when it's windy and appointments with the entire complex are often not kept. The children are often running around and yelling after school and shaking the unit windows from running on the top floor landing.I don't even like making requests at the office because they are not taken seriously. If I wanted to pay rent somewhere and not have management, it would have been renting a home.
