 My husband and I have lived at Santa Maria since September, 2002. We live in a cottage style 2 bedroom that sits on top of 3 garages. We don't have anyone above us and only share a wall of bathrooms with our neighbors. Noise problems are minimal for an apartment complex and we hadn't had any problems at all until our new neighbors moved in. The internal stairway that led from their garage to their apartment runs along our Master Bedroom wall so, when they were moving in and throwing things up and down the stairs it kept us up at night. However, once addressed with management we didn't hear a thing. The garage doors opening and closing in this floor plan are a little noisy but only last about 10 seconds so, it's bearable.The kitchens have VERY shallow sinks which took some getting used to but, are overall very functional. Because I'm convinced that Irvine is one big ant hill, we do have problems with them in the summer but, as with everything, once we report a problem to management they have someone out to fix the problem almost immediately. It's very rare that it doesn't happen the same day (when reported late in the afternoon, maintenance was knocking on our door at 9am the next morning)All of the staff is extremely courteous and very friendly. We have also rented out the clubhouse and the price is EXTREMELY resonable and my husband's friends REALLY enjoyed the big screen. A large gas-powered grill was recently added to the pool area and is free of use to residents. The pool is nicely heated (sometimes a little too warm in the summer months) and this is a very kid friendly environment.For some reason there does seem to be a high turnover rate but other than a lack of sufficient guest parking (residents have either a 2 car garage or 1 car garage w/ 1 assigned parking space) I can't see why.We love our apartment.
