| Recent Review: | | I am so glad to see that I could write a review for my apartment complex, because I would love for anybody looking for a place to live near Park Meadows to know the truth about the Crest. I would agree with anyone who says that the complex looks like a really nice place to live when you tour the models and the pool, etc. However, the longer I live there, the more I hate it. The management and leasing staff is completely incompetant. They are unprofessional in every aspect. It doesn't help that they have a completely undependable maintenance staff as well. The two together have managed to barely keep the buildings standing. They are quick to let you know when your dogs are too loud, or if you've done something wrong, but when you call with a question, or maintenance issue, it's like they blatantly ignore you. They actually went without a Property Manager for a couple of weeks, if not months last winter. That was really fun trying to get someone to acknowleges any needs during that time. I'm not sure who acutually owns the Crest Apartments, but they hired people who are NOT good at serving tenants (they are consumed more with getting empty apartments leased), and they built a pretty cheap complex too. The walls are cracked from the ceilings to the floors, the faucets are cheap, and the appliances are not installed correctly, and have many problems. We have neighbors who moved in and 2 weeks later, their apartment flooded due to a crack in the foundation and ruined everything inside. The maintenace staff does not remove snow from sidewalks, the parking lot does not get salted, and it is really icy - not to mention a pretty steep slope in some places, and is therefore a disaster waiting to happen! There have been lights out on the walkways between and behind buildings for almost a year, leaving them dark, and in my opinion unsafe. They boast that they are a "Gated Community", yet the gates have been broken from the time we moved in for the first 3 or 4 months, and have now been out of order and open for the last 6 months or so. So much for security! My last complaint that I think everyone will really care about is the QUALITY of the tenants that have been leased an apartment since we've lived there. The Crest has slowly gone from a community of professionals to a haven for kids in their late teens and early 20's that are just plain loud, drive way too fast through the parking lots, and don't pick up after their pets. It's obvious that the Leasing Manager is only concerned with getting the apartments filled, and getting the commission for it, rather than the quality of tenants. My advise to them is that if they are going to let just anyone live there, and allow large animals at the same time, they should have planned their placement strategies a little better. For instance, all renters with dogs in the same building, or all "teenagers" in the same building! It would keep the majority of the tenants a little happier. My advise to the Crest Apartments is to start caring more for the people who already live there. Make sure that the potential leaser does not come before current tenants. Take charge of the maintenance staff, maybe raise their pay so that they care about what they're supposed to be doing, and create a place for the dogs who live there - you charge tenants enough in pet deposits and rent to have a decent place for them to run around off leash! To anyone looking in that area for an apartment - I would suggest the new complex that just went up directly to the south of the Crest, or AMLI on the other side of the street. All I can hope is that the Crest improves before the light rail is finished, because they have the potential to make a lot of money, and to be a highly recommended place to live. As of right now, it is not recommended! |
