Recent Review:OnFriday August 10th uponreturning from work,I went toour apartment to retrieve our storage room key to my sheerhorror all the contents of our storage area had beenremoved and the room swept clean. We immediatelycontacted the Conceirewho immediately contactedthe Community Manager Carrie Phipps by phone.Sheclaimed to know nothing about it and suggested to theConceire to contact the Maintence Unit and then thePolice. We explained that the unit locksautomatically, we were in possession of the key andthe unit had not been tampered with. The Conceire contactedseveral building employees who all claimed they knewnothing about our missing possessions.Missing possessionsthat are ABSOLUTELY IRREPLACEABLE.We were marriedthree weeks ago and the unit contained all our weeding items, myhusband served 20 years in the AIR FORCE, his uniformsand medals are gone. Our six year old Kindergarden items, baby pictures, my computer, printers, all our winter clothes, brandnew four piece luggage, wedding gifts, PICTURES and aginpaintings. The Conceiretold by Ms. Phipps that the itemswere somewhere in the building as the LAW STIPULATES tobe held for 30 days.UNTRUE, all our possessiosn wereeither thrown away or taken by building employees.OFFICE PERSONELL were seen leaving the building with ourpossessionspictures (one destinctly of the WORLD TRADE CENTERand the Brooklyn Bridge) oil paintings withsubstancial value. To add insult to injury we weretold over and over again by Ms. Philipsand building personalto contact the police. We were scheduled to leave at 8;00 amSaturday morning on a family vacation. We have no luggageor clothes to goon this FAMILY VACATION.We will be contacting ourlawyer FIRST thing in the morning and have everyintention of prosucting AVALON and all responsible employees tothe full extent of the law.It appears when the storage key was given to us theincorrect unit was written in their black binder.A noteappears next to our storage unit that someone wasemailed about the contents on 8/23.What isunbelievable to me is the fact that our family namewith ouraddress and apartment number was all over our stolenbelongings.50 Forest Street

Recent Review:Well, for starters, the first day I moved in the bulb inmy overhead track lightingwas out and they promised to fix it ASAP. Well, 3 mos later I'm still waiting and I was told not to fix it myself.I had been expecting an important package to be delivered to the office which I kept checking up on, they said they had not recieved itI went down to check again and they told me it had been there for a week! That was minor in comparison to the paper thin walls, the miserable parking facilities, and the occaisional (plus) screaming outside at 2-4AM (what happened to the security?)Oh, there is also a bee-bee gun hole which I mentioned to the "management" needed to be fixed. I guess that'll happen when my light bulb gets done.

Recent Review:They charge extra rent, put on bogus charges, and fail to return your security when leaving.I did not get anything back despite leaving the apartment in good condition.I actually got a bill which was reduced to zero once I compalained. The obvious charges are removed once you complain - such as rent you have already paid but the contestable ones are not (cleaning, etc. despite leaving the apartment in near perfect condition.).This has happened to me AND several friends who have moved out.Nickeled and dimed every which way.Watch out when you move out.Did not expect this from a corporate management company.

Recent Review:I lived at Hamilton Gardens for about 18 months and aside from a visit from one mouse (par for the course in an older building), I loved the apartment itself. The apartments are very large (940-1100 sq ft) and have eat-in kitchens.Rent is very reasonable for the area.Additionally, large pets are accepted with no extra deposit or rent, which is a definite plus, as this is hard to find. However, life was not perfect at Hamilton Gardens. The floors are not insulated very well and even if your upstairs neighbor is quiet as a mouse, you will hear their feet. The walls, however, are very well insulated - I never heard of peep from tenants on either side of me.There are quite a few tenants with nothing better to do than complain about everything.Unfortunately for everyone else, the management office takes the complainers' side on every issue. You will receive notices about once a month, banning many activities.Children are only allowed to play in designated playgrounds, not in the common areas (this was prompted by a tenant complaining of the noise coming from kids outside laughing on a Sunday afternoon). The ground floor apartments have small backyards, but you are not permitted to have any porch furniture in your area, because others might consider it "unsightly".Overall, I had a decent experience with Hamilton Gardens, but having lived in several rental communities, I was taken aback by the overinvolvement of management, as this had not been my experience in other communities.

Recent Review:Facilities are good. But don't expect to be able to use them. The tennis courts weren't available for the entire 2004 summer. Whirl pool closed down for the winter and the in door pool can be closed for painting for a month when they say it takes only a few days. What can you say?

Recent Review:Don't ever live here. The property manager is ignorant - ive never met anyone this rude. She treated me as if i ask to stay for free! Thosehomeless people in a shelter are treated better than i was. When you first walk in -- you'll see a receptionist from hell. She won't even let you talk to a person you wish to contact if she 'thinks' she can't do it (dont forget, you're not there to talk to her). Just tell her to mind her own business and do your thing.Don't waste your money on this apartments and get frustrated by the management --not so worth it.
