| Recent Review: | | I'm writing this to let people know that kenneth Gardens may look good and the employees may seem nice, but beware. The manager is not as nice as he seems. The secretary for some reason likes to give the tenants attitudes and acts like she owns the place. She doesn't speak English very well. The grounds look ok, but when it snows beware. They don't plow very well and the sidewalks are very icy. The fire extinguishers are outdated (expired in 1999). They don't care about the theives that thrive on their parking lots. My car was broken into 3 times, my tires were stolen off my car as well as my license plate, and my car was also dented by a child playing in the parking lot. In the rental agreement, it clearly states that children are not permitted to play in parking lot. When I asked them to make this problem aware, they never did. The apartments were sprayed for |

| Recent Review: | | I should have known from the get-go that a man who picks on a 70 year old woman is a heel. When i first moved into my apartment, I had my doubts. The landlord complained alot about an elderly woman in the building and how he argued with her. I dismissed it.Sometimes the elderly can be naggy. Then, in my second month of living there, I had a gas leak.YOu see, it took the landlord a month to straighten out things with the gas company so i could get my gas turned on cause the past tenants didn't pay their bill.I was okay with this. I was very patient. When the gas got turned on, I was very excited.Well, the day it got turned on, I was out with a friend...shopping, doing errands, having dinner.I didn't get home until quite late. When I entered my apartment, it reaked of gas.Of course, it being the first time I ever lived away from my hometown..... I didn't know what to do.I thought maybe it was suppossed to smell cause it just got turned on.Well...I became consumed by the smell and passed out. When i awoke and realized what had happened, I called my mother. She was worried and hysterical.I am her only child and in my early twenties. So I am basically still her baby. She raced over, and on her way over, phoned the gas company, and then phoned the landlord.Well...the landlord proceeded to scream at my mother. And when he arrived in my apartment before my mother, he screamed at me.Mind you, I could barely stand up and i couldnt breathe. He was yelling at me demanding why i would try to risk the lives of everyone in the building like I had done this on purpose.Well, turns out, the gas company informs us that the landlord installed a defective stove. So it was indirectly his fault. He should no concern for my health and just brushed it off.He never apologized to me, he did phone my mother and apologized to her...but he never had the guts to approach me.Soooo time went by.I was still miffed, but i dealt. Then winter set in.No heat. For a week in November......my heat was 60 degrees. This continued the whole month of decemeber.Sometimes we had heat, sometimes we didn't.I knew the landlord was trying to sell the building and maybe trying to cut corners, so i let it go...but then it continued.I went to radio shack and purchased an expensive inside digital therometer. On Christmas Eve night, my apartment was 52 degrees. So i wrote a letter and left it in the complaint box.Well, as you might guess, I got screamed at.How dare I keep a thereometer, and how dare I wait so long to tell him!Acting like I was the only one complaining, but low and behold, everyone was!He then phones my mother (why, we will never know) and berates and screams at her. So, he did a song and dance and with no repairs (after we threatened to get the family attorney involved) the heat magically came on and has been on eversince.Okay, well, so the heats resolved..... I am in the shower one morning and the rickety old shower fixture falls off in my hand.I politely write a letter. His response, after a full 24 hours of notifying, oh, i need five days to locate the piece.Mind you, my boyfriend located the piece in the local plumbing store but i told him not purchase it because it isn't our expensive. Thus, proving, our landlord is vengeful and lazy.So a few days pass by, my boyfriend and I got out for dinner for anniversary. We arrive home to smell...you guessed it...gas.The pilot light is out.So he opens two windows to air the place out cause it reaks of gas and we won't be able to light the match until the smell is clear. Not certain of how to do this, I phone my mom and she says she'll come over and give us a lesson. She claims its simple and easy....well....in the mean time, Nosy rosy landlord just happens to be prowling the premisis (mind you, he doesnt even live her), he comes barging into the building, up the stairs, bangs on my door, demands to come in, and screams we have the windows open.Politely, my boyfriend tries to explain about the gas.He looks at us, basically calls us idiots and says all you have to do is light the pilot. We explain, we've never done this before. He explains its easy just do it.I explain, well we were waiting for my mom until he intruded. So then he starts screaming we should have called him contradicting the statement he just made saying it was easy and why couldnt we just do it ourselves? So he causes a huge scene, yells at me, threatens to evict me if i don't close the windows.(We shall add myboyfriend is a police officer and was patietly taking it all in....waiting for the jerky landlord to say the wrong thing.)He storms out.No one should have to live under this kind of treatment. I work hard, pay my rent on time. All i expect is peace and quiet.I don't think I need my landlord constantly swearing at me.Do not rent for this man.He is certifiably insane!I am in the process with my attorney to see if there is a way I can get out of my lease and keep my security deposit.I feel frightened and intimidated by this man.And i don't feel safe here when I am alone. |
