| Recent Review: | | From the outside, Summer Club may seem like a very nice place to live. However that is very far from the truth.Behind its shallow appearance lies very sloppy, unprofessional management with run-down apartments that constantly need maitinence. The management, quite frankly, seems to try to scam you out of money anyway they can. Here are several examples: When our unit was attacked by the hurricanes last year, our apartment was flooded. The water came in through the foundation, through the windows (which were closed, mind you), and through the ceiling -- and I lived on the FIRST (of three) floors (and the other units above me were leak-free!)!Mold and mildew set in, and we've put in several maitinence requests in.Several weeks went by without so much as a phone call.We finally spoke to the leasing manager. She tried to avoid any responsibility what-so-ever and didn't even offer a solution. We demanded a new unit since our current one was uninhabitable. She gave us TWO days to move all of our belongings from one unit to the new one, without any time to make proper arragements at our jobs.So basically we got no sleep those two days while he juggled school, work, and moving. Upon moving to the new unit, we signed a new lease for that unit, thus cancelling the old one. This lease was supposed to be identical to the original one.But only until now are we discovering that they made several modifications to the lease and are now screwing us out of an extra $200 a month. We tried reasoning with the property manager, but he basically tried to pass the responsibility off to the district manager, who never visits the apartments. Six weeks ago I called in a work order to fix the leak in my bathroom tub. They came in two days later, looked at the bathroom sink, said it didn't leak, then left. When I came back home and read the maitinence form, it said that there was no leak in the sink, so no work was done.I guess they don't know the difference between a sink and a tub... A few weeks later, my tub, still leaking, was acting up again.I tried to tighten the knob.I barely applied any force, when suddenly the knob snapped off.Great! Now I don't have a shower!I called this in to maitinence. It took them three days to come out here and look at it.It was 4th of July weekend and so they didn't want to come during that weekend to service it, because they don't classify a broken shower as an emergency.Anyway, when they finally showed up, they said that they needed a part and would have to order for one. However my tub still leaked.I asked if they could stop the leak. The office said they'd send somebody out there.Nothing was done. A week and a half later they finally show up and fix the tub and leave.I go to check out the tub, and now it's leaking worse than ever! The faucet worked, but the leaking wouldn't stop!I went down to the office and complained. No one showed up until the next day, and all he did was apply caulke to the faucet so it stuck to the wall. The leak slowed down, but has yet to stop.I talked to the leasing office about the leak and how it's costing me money.I demanded that they compensate me for the wasted water, but they refused to help. Parking here is a nightmare. The majority of the parking spots are in the VERY back of the complex. They crammed all of the buildings in the front with only enough parking spots to cover maybe a third of the tenants. Every trashday, they like to take the dumpster and not bring it back until the next day.So we're dumpsterless for 24 hours. However people just pile their garbage in front ot the dumpter door.So by the end of the day you see a gigantic pile of garbage, and think to yourself, "I'm paying for THIS?" I guess they take the $50 background check fee and keep it.If they actually DID background checks, then there probably wouldn't have been a gang war, or something like that here the other night. Two nights ago, right outside my apartment window, I heard three gunshots fired (at 4 in the morning, mind you), followed by a lot of yelling, and several cars peeling out of the parking lot.I looked out my window and saw two cars speeding out of here in reverse, being chased by a bunch of thug-looking kids (between 20 and 25 probably). The police were called, but nothing was really done. They came over and talked to a few people and left. I would have been out of here when my lease expired, but I was screwed by the new lease into staying an extra month, and paying $200 in fees... I'm never going to live here again, and I highly recommend no one ever does! |
