Recent Review:I could live with the sirens and the break-ins, but the new management is what made me leave.Their "management" is horrible and will make your life a living hell. They turn off the water and electricity with less than 6 hours notice (and that notification comes at about midnight).People are constantly coming in to your apartment to inspect the apartment. The amenities are all broken. The worst is the billing. The new management doesn't keep accurate records, so they overbill. When you call them on it, they explain that you should adjust the bills yourself. When you do, they mark the excess as "unpaid".There is never anyone who can take care of these problems, just people who can take a message.DO NO RENT HERE!

Recent Review:Where should we start&.Pre-move-in we were told a few things that turned out not to be true.First of all, the rental price we were quoted ended up not being the actual rental price. After being excited and doing our entire budget around the original quote, we werent going to fuss over the $50 discrepancy.Next, we were told that since we live in the area, that our gym membership at the fitness center down the street would only be $20/mo..NOT TRUE.We went in to sign up and not only were we looked at like we were crazy for inquiring about such a thing but the membership was 3-4 times the amount we were told.During our initial walk-thru we were told about the roof-top deck. Now, we never saw the roof-top deck during the walk thru but after we moved in and became curious about seeing it, we were quick to learn that the deck wasnt there nor was there such a thing. With the cable situation we were told that the new cable wiring, allowing us to have broadband internet connection, would be in place in May (we moved in in March). Now a few months of no internet, was no big deal.We supplemented our needs by using the varioushot-spotsin the area.Well, not only was this not the time-frame, but we ended up calling the cable company our self and asking about every other week if they were ready yet. Finally in mid-October we had the cable company install the broadband/digital cable. Now, Management had not informed us that the digital cable was ready at that time&.As a matter of fact, the tenants were not informed of this until EXACTLY two months AFTER we had already bi-passed management and worked directly with the cable company to get cable installed. Also upon determination of whether we would choose the Regal as our residence, we asked what their policies and/or payments are to own a pet.We were looked at as if we were crazy to assume we would have to pay a fee to own a pet and then we were told that there is no limit to the size of the pet, nor is there ANY additional charges.Well, a few months after assuming residence at the Regal, we purchased a dog, and one that only grows to a max of 30 lbs since we didnt know if any future homes would have a pet restriction based on weight.About half way thru our lease, the Regal management decided to make andaddendumon to the lease and ask each pet-owning tenant to pay a $250 deposit on top of an additional $50/mo. tacked onto the rent, AND there was a limitation list on the type of breed of dog each tenant could own. When we moved in, management told us that they would shampoo our carpets at any time, if needed.Well, when we took them up on that deal, they questioned us like we were criminals or like we were trying to steel from them. So, we just rented a carpet steamer from the local hardware store and cleaned our carpet our selves.A few weeks later management decided to inform us that they will clean our carpets in a few weeks because they are having some others in the building cleaned. We told them that we went ahead and took care of it our selves&.No, they didnt pay us back for cleaning our own carpet. The Friend Deal:This is hilarious, but insulting at the same time!A deal was advertised to all tenants that if they recommend a friend to live at the Regal AND they sign a year lease that the tenant who gave the referral will receive 2 deductions from their next two months rent of $250.Well, an out of town friend of mine had moved to Chicago and knew NO ONE but myself. Now I didnt recommend our building because I was already thoroughly upset at that point. To our surprise, he moved into our building. Now, within a few days, one of the management staff had knocked on our door to remind us that we should deduct $250 from our next months rent.THEN, the actual building manager himself had stopped me in the hall to remind me to deduct the $250 from our next months rent.So TWO PEOPLE in the management office TOLD ME THEM SELVES, IN PERSON, to take off the $250 from our rent. So, thats just what we did. Then, the day after rent was due, we receive a notice on our door stating that we had not made sufficient payment of our rent AND we will be fined. When we took it up with management, they had forgotten to mark down in their books that our rent for the month should be $250 less.We were angry about this mishap, but not nearly as angry when it happened for a SECOND time.I mean, really, whats the problem here????Ah, heating&..prior to our move in, we asked how much the electric bill gets to in the winter and summer months. We were told that our bill wont get over $80.Thats no problem&.even if it were $100, I wouldnt have a problem, so long as Im warm. Now, bare with me because this is the touchiest subject for me.Now, we had complained about our thermostat in May/June with the air conditioning not working properly and they claimed that some line froze&.smells fishy to me.The second time we complained about our thermostat was in the fall when the temperatures began to drop and we wanted our inside climate to be well above the outside climate.Again, they came in and said they fixed something, but the only difference we could see is that the termostat was switched to EM Heat.At the same time they did this, we had them look at our windows because they were leaking cold air extremely bad.You couldnt even sit on the couch without feeling a breeze of cold air blow on you as you sit there. So, they jammed some packaging foam in the window to try and alleviate this&..it didnt do a darn thing. So, I began to monitor the temperature in our apartment with a digital thermometer. Now, when our thermostat is set at 70/72, runs all night, we are freezing to death in our fleece and 5 blankets, and we wake up to a temperature of below 60 in the apartment we have a BIG problem! So, we inform management of the legalities of this temperature and they send maintenance up there right away to check it out. Now, our heat is no longer on EM Heat, and they claim they re-wired it.Ya, right.Between November and February, our electric bills were, $135 one month, $200, the next, $145 the month after that. Now, I informed management of these bills and his response was,OUCH, that sucks!&.okWe almost had a massacre&..The toilet flushed its last flush&This day we had some guests over to celebrate our engagement. When one of them went to use the toilet, they came back and said that it wont stop generating. We took a look at it, determined it needed some sort of repair and as we left to go to lunch, informed the building management that they need to fix it.We had gone to lunch and pretty much spent the rest of the afternoon out of the apartment. When we returned, there was a maintenance note left on our door and we could hear an awfully loud noise coming from OUR apartment. It was our toilet! Not only could you hear it right as you got off the elevator, but to be in the apartment and hear it was enough to make you go crazy. Now, it was Saturday evening and the maintenance note said they would return to fix it Monday.WHAT!!???Are they nuts?!!So, Sunday, when we were finally able to track down thein-building manager, we brought him to our apartment to let him hear it for himself. He made some phone calls, then concluded that they would fix it Monday and in the mean time we had to turn the valve on our toilet to get it to stop churning. Now, this is our only toilet in the whole place. We had to turn the knob, let the bowl fill up, do ourbusinessthen hold the flusher down until it all went down.We had to do this every time.Unacceptable!Other miscellaneous things that we dislike, but live with are the bums who hang out in the warm lobby, the floor tiles that lift up in the bathroom because they stick to our moist feet after we shower, and now our dishwasher is leaking&&.In a nutshell&.we pay a premium to live in a shit hole!I strongly recommend any prospect to look elsewhere!

Recent Review:Management is nonresponsive to complaints, the decor is horribly outdated and ugly with walls painted pink and awful wallpaper, numerous electrical and plumbing problems, and elevators that are nonfunctional about 30% of the time (really inconvenient in a high rise), some items you'll never get fixed no matter how many times you request, management office will not accept packages, dogs poop in the lobby and urinate in the elevators, and the noise level is out of control.

Recent Review:The building was safe and secure, with no in and out traffic in the building. The apartments were big and beautiful for the price. All utilities included with excellent janitorial services. The buildings stay clean, and if you ever needed anything fixed they would always respond promptly.
