61. Somerset Lakes
3202 E 76th St
Indianapolis  IN, 46240

Recent Review:Staying at this property is really a good value. When you check other properties that charge the same or more, the square footage is what gives Somerset Lakes the edge along with the fact that all of the views are lakeviews and the property is generally rather quiet.Be careful however, this used to be a senior citizen only community and many of them are still there...as grumpy as ever!!! Not all of the older residents are this way but it is obvious that many of them, being stubborn, didn't want to move but didn't welcome the property changing over to a non-age restricted property.Being in a secure and gated community is a real plus and the fact that is is somewhat hidden is antoher benefit. Now for the not so good part; The property is owned by AIMCO, a large corporate entity with little regard for renters. They are not very helpful and overall seem to do a lot of price adjusting so the unit rates vary quite a bit. They also don't advise as to what the rates will be after the special is over so don't be surprised if at the end of your lease (as was the case with me) you get a whopper of a surprise when your rent sky rockets. If you are prepared for the normal rate going in, you will be fine so just enjoy the luxury of the special and brace yourself for real life at the end of your lease. They do come to you 90 days before the end of your lease with the new rate so you will have time should you decide to move. The office staff is really nice EXCEPT for the manager; she is a real jerk. Most of the residents don't care much for her.She has a nasty attitude and her overall concern for the residents (except for the old timers who have lived there 10 year or more) is poor. She is very deceptive so be advised to talk to the other girls.Natasha and Renee are great ladies to work with

Recent Review:This has got to be one of the worst apartments around. First lets talk parking. I have been told that even though you pay rent every month you are not guarenteed a parking spot. If your neighbors decide to have people over you have to find another place to park not them (even though they don't pay rent) Lets talk about getting things fixed around your apartment......this is funny! It taked at least two phone calls and at least two trips to get something fixed and when I say fixed I don't mean fixed right its half done right and usually it doesn't look pretty. People fly down the streets. Its not really safe if you have kids because these people don't really pay attention when they are driving around here. The leasing staff is so nice when you come in to sign your lease but after you move in they are not so friendly and they really act like they don't care about you or your apartment. If only I would have known all this before i moved in here. I am counting down the days till iI can move. This is not a good place to live. I would not recomend this place to my worst enemy....and that's the truth. BEWARE

Recent Review:This apartment complex seems, so nice, quiet, and affordable... but believe me once you sign that lease everything changes. After signing our lease the people that work at the office acted like they couldn't care less.Long story short, after moving in I found out there is urine on the carpets from the last tenants dogs. We notified the office after we had only been moved in for two days. We had to call and call, to get anyone to even respond... and when they did they were not helpful in the least bit. The office refuses to do anything because they don't feel it is nessisary even though the smell is making my fiance and I sick. We have had to spend our time and money cleaning, and recleaning the carpets to try to make it atleast a little better. But the carpets are beyond cleaning, they are ruined. After about 7 phone calls they offered to move us to a differant apartment, then called back within two hours and said they were taking that offer back because their lawyer told them they are not obligated to move us. They have been more than rude to me and my fiance. If we had known that it would be like this we never would have moved in. They've been rude, dishonest, and very frustrating. I feel ripped off to say the least. I would never tell anyone to move here, it's not what it's cracked up to be. We also know another couple who lives here who had a pipe burst and flood their bathroom...what did the apartment complex do to help? Brought them a fan, that's it. It's a nightmare trying to get anything fixed. Stay clear of this one. You'll be glad you did.

Recent Review:We have had numerous problems with hot water. One week we went without hot water for 4 days and they did not even pro-rate the rent. The dishwasher wasn't working when we moved in and it took almost a month to replace it. The whole building just looks like something from the 70's. Everything is outdated. The pull string in the closet had to be replaced. One of the heaters in the apt. does not work. In the fitness center, the tv, drinking fountain, and numerous equipment does not work. Our ceiling has leaked at least 4 times. Once so bad the plaster fell down. There was grafitti all over the elevators. The laundry room is junk. It is $1 to wash AND dry. It stinks in the hallways and lobby. You can hear gunshots outside. Don't be attracted to the pool on the roof. It is only open about 3 1/2 months out of the year and when it is open, the water is so cold you can't enjoy it. The management is inconsiderate to the tenants. They make no effort to offer any compensation for the problems you encounter. The parking lot is unsafe. There is an underground parking garage, but it is $40 extra. When you go to look at an apartment here, they show you one that is really nice and clean, etc. They would not show us the one we would be living in, just the demo. They kept saying "it's just like this one". It was completely filthy. We spent more time cleaning than unpacking. I will never live here again. Don't make the same mistake we did. The lobby is very nice, but coming in the back door it looks like trash. It is embarassing to bring friends over. It's also embarassing to call up your friends to see if you can take a shower because you don't have hot water.

Recent Review:I have lived in this community for 1 year now and couldn't have chosen a better property. The aparments are spacious and reasonable. The Management particularly the Property Manager is very friendly and professional! The individual buildings are pretty nice, yet the entrance ways into each building could use a little face lift.We have an indoor pool which is very nice! The grounds are pretty well kept and maintenance is usually on point.I would definitely recommend this community to potential renters. It's very close to everything, i.e. stores, restaurants, expressway and the airport. You can't go wrong with this one.

Recent Review:When I first moved to Sundance, I thought it was a great place to live. My neighbors were friendly and I felt safe. However, the apartment was not in the best condition when we moved in. The bathroom and the kitchen were not cleaned as thoroughly as it should have been. Also, the garbage disposal broke numerous times and was never fixed properly. Parking was a complete pain in the butt, especially on evenings and weekends. I ultimately was upset with how unprofessional the office staff is. For instance, I would walk in on a Sunday to drop off my rent check and the leasing agent would be asleep on the couch. Also, every time I had a question, I would never receive a straight answer. Every person in the office would have a different answer for the same question. It was a hassle and waste of time!I am now moved out of the apartment and am now being charged for damages that I did not do. They failed to contact me about these damages. Luckily, I was given the information from an apartment I am moving into. Sundance put that information on my rental history information but failed to contact me to let me know about the situation. I just wanted to warn people about how unprofessional the staff is at Sundance. I have several friends that live there now and experience the same problems.I would never recommend that anyone move here unless they go under new, more professional management.

Recent Review:This community has lofts for those urban dwellers looking to live in the big city life with big open spaces. But the downside to this community is there is no security guard on site, no gym on site, no swimming and no tanning. The noise factor is a constant pain, because the construction of the walls are very thin and cheap, considering the fact of living in a "supposedly" loud environment of downtown, you can hear neighbors speaking very low. Some units offer great views of downtown, while others don't.Otherwise, it's not someplace to live and party every night, it's someplace where you'd have to be conservative and boring to accomodate the community in the building.

Recent Review:The apartments are very nice and huge. The outside is very well kept but that's where it stops.Management doesn't care about the inside. It takes months to get anything fixed.Six unrelated people live in the apt. down from me and they take all the parking for several units. They have aluminum foil rather than curtains. You pay for your own water (pro rated)and I have to pay the same as the unit with six people even tho it's just me.At night there are gangs in the parking lot with BOOMING rap.I have called the police several times but it keeps happening. STAY AWAY!!

Recent Review:The building is a nice, old structure.3 floors, no elevator. We have four bay windows in our two bedroom, as well as a sky light. There is also a nice tiled entry way with track lighting (perfect for art display). The downside is old appliances and windows, inefficient climate control. The apartment is hard to heat.
