| Recent Review: | | Three months before our wedding, my wife and I decided on the place to live.I moved in and she continued living with her parents. After the wedding and susbsequent honeymoon, my wife moved in and we were able to move into the apartment we wanted, a loft. This third floor apartment appeared to have it all.The complex as a whole appeared quite nice. The staff was courteous and friendly, appearing to be concerned about every need. The company decided to build another complex in the vicinity that is a luxury place to be sure. The staff here, went there and then started the replacements ... and rennovation. In South Louisiana there is a common problem of subsidence.(the buildings sink)Our building was priveleged to be the first for this endeavor.(Guinea Pig)We suffered all of the problems so that the staff could learn what to expect from the other twelve buildings. My wife arrived home to find that the door would not open, after we were given two days notice that the building would be raised and to remove items hanging from the wall. When the maintenance people observed the diffiuculty, they assisted my wife with the door.I received a phone call and was told the apartment appeared to have been involved in an earthquake. The walls had cracked severely around all openings with some of the cracks measuring over four feet in length by 3/4 inch in width. The doors were no longer aligned.Parking became a hazard as equipment and material occupied spaces for residents. The cracks were repaired one month later by removing the sheet rock while we lived here.(Allergy City)Following the repairs, we were notified that there would be an upgrade to the alarm. We were not advised as to when this would happen and when it did there was no notice other than my wife arriving home after dark to no lights, our furniture moved, the alarm not set, and no official indicaion that someone had performed work.Leading up to the christmas holidays there was a leak in the roof, over the Christmas tree. This was apparently repaired with no official note that someone has performed work in our apartment and the alarm no set.The holidays passed with few complaints. After the new year, management decided to re-side the building and contracted a company to do so.My wife awakened me at 2:00 in the morning as she was being rained on in our bed room.I called the apathetic office and was advised that someone would look into it.I came home to find the alarm disarmed yet again and nothing moved in the apartment.(Apparently they thought the bedroom and living room were the same)The parking issue became worse as they brought in more equipment to start on the other buildings. When issues were brought to the office we were directed to the district manager. This did not have significantly better results.I advised that the leak was coming from the bedroom window and the the water was running in from the top of the window. The next day I arrived home to find the alarm disarmed, no official notification that maintenance had been performed, and my furniture moved in the bedroom.I now knew that someone had inspected it.I called the manger and was advised that they were unable to find the leak.I advised the manager of what I believed was the source of the leak and this was resolved. The siding work continued with insulating wrap on the building which fluttered and beat the wall in the wind.(Imagine hearing Christmas morning with unwrapping presents all night long)The work continued with siding the building from January through April. In February the wall which has the electric meters had to be sided which involved cutting power to the building. We were given two days notice that this would occur.(Two days is apparently all that is required)In the notice we were advised that the power would be off from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.I arrived home at 4:30 to find no power to the building. We were notified that power would be restored by 8:00 pm.(Power was not restored until 10:30pm)This was blamed on the electric company which is not wholly unbelievable, however if the wor to side that par of the building was not complete when the electric company returned to restore power, then they would reschedule for later in the evenng.(If other events demanded the electric company's attention then we would have to wait.)More random events of people entering our apartment with no notification. The balcony door leaked and ruined furinture due tothe door losing alignment from the building settling again. We have a peeling garden tub that has been resurfaced to only peel again. The most recent events involve painting the doors and removing the weather stripping which mens we air conditioned Gretna and invite any and all insects in.After five days the weather stripping has finally been replaced but does not seal adequately.I failed to mention that the security gate, which requires an access code to open, has been broken several times and when not functioning, is locked in the open position. The gate has been broken sometimes for over a week at a time. The exterior lighting took three months to reappear after having been removed in January. Many of the parking spaces retain water for days following a rain storm or shower.(This reduces the parking spaces available)The complex is under contract to the local phone company thus there is no option of another local provider.I have found that few of the representatives are helpful. To have any work performed, requires constant calling. If you are looking for an apartment in the New Orleans area feel free to move in here as we were the guinea pigs and things will likely improve.I will not continue my residence here. |
