| Recent Review: | | I lived in this apartment building for three years.It's been alright for a while with a few problems here and there, but overall ok...Until they changed the management at the end of 2004.The new management is simply nasty.They're so nasty they send notices to quit to tenants randomly and then negotiate a higher rent for them to stay, and employ such malevolent and illegitimate tactics to increase their revenue and make tenants even more unhappy.Also, the building always has cockroaches and small scorpions scrawling all over the kitchen and rooms.I caught hundreds of cockroaches (no kidding) in my kitchen, dozens in the living spaces, and two small scorpions crawling in my bedroom.The building is falling apart and the management is treating their tenants like trash.You feel like a prisoner, a slave to the management.I'm so happy to be out.Stay away!! |

| Recent Review: | | The exodus has begun!This new management company (Crescent Heights) is simply beyond belief horrible.I have been a tenant here for three years.They buy the building, they reduce the concierge staff to one person for both towers; despite their best efforts, they are swamped and getting your dry cleaning or packages can take upwards of 20 minutes standing in the lobby during busy times.The previous hard-working staff of valets (remember, this is an all valet building) has been mostly fired and reduced to a two man team.Remember, there are 430 apartments here, with many having 2 cars.So there are easily 600 cars at the building.2 Valets are left to handle this.You want your car in the morning?Good luck.About a month ago, one of the valets just drove off with a tenants car only to retuturn the following day (the police showed up right after).There are fights in the lobby quite frequently with the police showing up a couple times a month.Management somehow forgot I had paid them for three monts rent, sent me a rude eviction notice.I sent them documentation from my bank which clearly showed I had paid my rent for each of the three months in question at least 15 days before it was due.They never called me back.My brief-case was stolen with my keys in it; cost me $50 just to have someone let me into the apartment!Then another $50 for a new key.Just horrible.Stay away - these folks are horrible.Just terrible.The noise from the construction outside is no walk in the park either. |

| Recent Review: | | With the management change in 2004, we went from happy to tormented renters. Before that year, the management was onsite during business hours and on Saturdays, and maintenance was onsite 24/7. The maintenance people had a daily job to clean all common areas of the building and do small repairs. They were always around, knew everyone, and were very caring. The management picked carefully who they rented the place to.The owners then sold the place, and with the new owners we saw the management and crew get fired, and the demographics suddenly tilt towards one that resembles a college dorm. As of September/2004 we started having a major problem with loud music. If you call the Cambridge police and enquire, you will find out how many times they came around the building beginning that date. Many long timers we interacted with have left, and a couple who are still here are talking about leaving as well.Now, the biggest problem of all, the second hand smoke from cigarettes and marijuana. For some flaw in the structure of the building, smoke from one apartment sips into others. To us that translates into Friday and Saturday nights of suffocating smoke in our apartment, and mild every other time. That also translate into a major embarrassment when you have people over and have to explain why there is marijuana smell in your place. As soon as it started getting colder, which was around 10/2004, we started complaining to the property manager, Tom Monaco. We kept complaining and giving him a schedule of when the smoke was at its worse. He has done absolutely nothing as of this date, 03/2005. A warning: we called the Cambridge Health Department, and there is nothing they can do. How bad is it? Bad enough to wake me up in the middle of the night, bad enough that I wake up in the morning with a hangover and/or headache. We tried, but can't even keep the windows open because the heater doesn't go higher than a certain temperature and we would freeze.We are trapped for another two months, but then we are out of here. There is no way these people will see a single cent from me after my lease is up. Even after 11 years living in this building it's just not worth it. |
