| Recent Review: | | Craig Chapman is a slum lord. He buys up all the old houses in the area and converts them to apartments. These apartments are in severe states of disrepair and filth. The standard of living in the town of Big Rapids has severly declined since Chapman Housing came here. Before that he was forcably removed and banned from renting apartments to students at Michigan State University. We had many problems while renting from him over the past few years, and in one instance had to threaten to call the health department to even get a response from him.His employees invaded our privacy by entering our apartment without our permission, whether we were home or not. The carpet in these places are old, used up, rotten industrial carpet, not even the quality you see in wal-mart. The kitchen is no more than a hallway with a stove and fridge shoved in, the bathroom no more than a closet with running water, and the floors are rotting out from underneath you. Snow removal is not done properly, your cars will be blocked in, so I strongly suggest keeping a snow shovel in your trunk. There were constant parties at nearby houses, causing severe lack of sleep. Trash removal is provided by the use of several "conveniently located" dumpsters which are quite frequently rummaged through by townies looking to score beer cans to cash in. The apartments themselves are in no better shape than the dumpsters outside. The rent is excessive for the amount of space provided and almost never do you get your deposit refunded to you, in spite of leaving the place in better shape than you found it. Beware, he will find some reason to get as much money from you as possible. If the only thing you're after is a place to party, you don't mind throwing money away and don't care about the living conditions, then this is the place for you. Otherwise you're better off living on campus. Non-traditional students who have to work your way through college, don't bother calling. Not worth your hard-earned money. Sue, the manager is a very nice lady, but can only do her job as Craig Chapman directs her to. Sue, get a different job. You deserve better. |

| Recent Review: | | Listen, if you really want to rent a room in a house from this company, I would have to say you are a bit on the crazy side.Nothing but electrical problems.Constantly blowing the fuse without even running much of anything in the house.There was a downstairs and upstairs.If you were trying to run a microwave and hair dryer at the same time, then the fuse would blow really easily.Later in the second semester a fire occurred, leaving the house unlivable.Luckily no one perished in it.By the way if you like animals and birds living with you, then take a room from Harry's.Bats will be numerous, along with squirrels.I am not kidding about that.Ok, you rent from them, and lose some of your belongings because they don't know how to rewire their houses?I have even heard that Harry just gets these old houses for cheap and doesn't attempt to remodel them before leasing to students.So, why risk your life and rent from Harry's?I know I wouldn't if I were you.Please attempt to save your life, and find somewhere else to live for the year.Thanks for your time.--Anonymous-- |
