| Recent Review: | | Maintenance is nonexist. The apartments are run down. When I looked at the apartments they showed me a unit. When I moved in they gave me keys to another unit.Bait and switch. The water is frequently shut off.The buildings are hot and noisy. The residents and staff are rude. Most people let their doors slam shut behind them.Rather than throw away unwanted items, people leave them in the hall. The staff doesn't even throw abandoned items away, they just move them to the end of the hall. They charge a fortune for parking but don't enforce permits.Spaces are assigned but staff will park in the spaces rented by residents. |

| Recent Review: | | This is an apartment that can trick you.The apartment is great and is big, and beautiful. But the landlord is the one that can get you.She constantly was asking to come into my apartment, and fix things. The apartment was not ready with everything on the date that i was suppose to move into the apartment. The landlord is not a very nice person, plus she isn't very accomodating...mostly since she lives right below the apartment. She is very picky about what goes on in the apartment and doesn't like things to be done without her permission...even though it is your apartment. She constantly wants to know what you are doing in your apartment and is always in your business. |

| Recent Review: | | Horrible odor in apartment building, Great management, we had cockroaches in the building we lived in. We were not especially dirty. They were prompt to take care of the roaches. Not a great place to live. Beating of a man in the parking lot, many cars had been broken into in the lot. |

| Recent Review: | | Nice, smaller 2 bedrooms, average 1 bedrooms and smaller 3 bedrooms in this building.1 & 2 bed apts have hardwood floors. The location is very convienient to 35 & 94 as well as downtown and the metrodome. The building allows dogs and cats.It also has a fenced courtyard in front with grills, tables and a bike rack.Rents are average. There is a small lot for off-street parking, overflow has to park on the street.Fellow tenants are very friendly, during the summer there's always someone grillin'.Most tenants are in college, or recently out...a few are older.I would stay, but I'd like to walk or bike to work--it's too far from here. |

| Recent Review: | | Minnetonka Terrace ruined the entire renting experience for me.I *LOVED* our apartment, it was centrally located, huge with lots of storage and lots of amenities. However, the management was SO rude, nosey, and intrusive that my roommates and I packed up and bought a house, unable to face landlords anymore. The office manager and Steve Schahmann (whatever his name is) were incredibly rude to us, never left us alone, and always made us feel as if they wanted us to leave.I wouldn't recommend renting from these people if you like to think you have any degree of privacy. |

| Recent Review: | | As a reviewer above said, there are some problems here, but the biggest of all is management, which suffers not only from high turn over but utter incompetence. If you want to get anything done, be prepared to do it yourself.Contrary to what their web site and leasing agents say, you only have one choice of telecom service provider, and that is a small company out of some eastern suburb. The "T1" internet, the only service available to you as a renter, is barely faster than dial-up, and they place severe restrictions on your home computer networks (which technically violates Minnesota privacy law). And yes, as above, there are clauses that were obviously not written for Minnesota renters, as they quite obviously, even to the legal novice, contravene well established Minnesota renting laws.Qwest is not the phone provider of choice in this building, contrary to what you read on the web site and hear from the leasing agents. If you want Qwest service, you will have to pay a minimum of $100 to have a special connection made to your apartment, and getting that done will take 6 weeks minimum. In the mean time you are forced into a 3 month minimum contract with CharTel (the tiny telecom provider that services both Stone Arch buildings). The phone service is pricy, and the internet connection is unreliable and horribly slow.If you do anything requiring robust bandwidth, such as VoIP or online gaming, do not expect to be able to do it here. But the biggest problem of all are the leasing agents, who actively lie to get you to sign a leasing agreement. As soon as you've signed the lease, don't plan on getting any help from them or anyone else in the office, for that matter. They only care about signing on new tenants and don't care much at all about those already in a lease noose.Thankfully the shortest lease they offer is 3 months, so don't let them tell you that you have to sign a 12 month lease.Keep in mind that parking will cost you at least $50 per month. Also, the "basic" satellite TV service is just that--a slim selection of channels is offered which is easily beaten by the basic cable service Time Warner offers in Minneapolis for $10/month.But Time Warner cable is not available here. The owners have refused to allow anyone but their tiny satellite provider, who charges quite a premium for extra channels, to offer service here.If you want to watch anything besides Lifetime and Fox News, be prepared to shell out more cash, a percentage of which goes right back into the owners' pockets. To put it briefly, nothing here is free. The amenities they mention, except the exercise room, cost money. And it is set up in such a way that the owners of the building get a piece of everything you spend. It's vertical integration at its best. But the biggest inconvenience is internet access. The building owners have bullied Time Warner and Qwest out of offering service to renters here.I was told before I signed the lease that I would be able to continue having my Time Warner cable internet access (through Earthlink), but I found out shortly after moving in that Time Warner wouldn't touch this place with a 10' coaxial cable.Apparently the building owners have threatened them with legal action if they try to install cable service in any of the units here.I only found this out from Time Warner Cable after I moved in.Not surprisingly, management never returns my calls regarding this, or any other issue, for that matter.Crime here is not bad, but in the first month I was here, there were two break-ins.Get the facts before you sign anything here. And by that I mean, ask current renters. The leasing agents and property manager will say anything to get you to sign a lease. |

| Recent Review: | | I lived in The Buckingham a few years ago, and I loved it. I rented 2 different apartments. The north half of the building contains redone, more modern apartments, the south half are older, more classic apartments. There are many different floorplans to choose from.Lisa, the manager was always great. I had very few problems when I lived here. Parking is additional, and the only problem was in the winter they would pile snow in one of the spots, so if you were the last one home, you didn't get a spot even though you had paid for it. Parking in the neighborhood is kind of tough as well, but that is just living downtown.Maintenance people were always quick and helpful, I felt safe in the neighborhood and if I ever move back to Minnesota I would definitely consider moving back into The Buckingham. |
