| Recent Review: | | We lived in a 2BR Duplex in Powell Terrace from May of 2003 to May of 2004,and our Duplex was actually not bad inside. It's all of the noisy screaming kids outside in the neighborhood that we couldn't stand. About 3/4 of the way through our lease,we got new neighbors. My g/f works at Walgreens,& noticed that all of them were buying all of the ingredients that's used to make METH. I had just got on City Housing a couple of weeks after we'd moved in,so we had absolutely NO problems w/the maintainence guys coming over to fix things...but everything was BRAND NEW when we moved in...and I mean everything...from the floor to the ceiling in every room. I think we probablly had the best unit in the entire area....RIGHT behind the office. I'll tell you this much...July 4th was hell on Earth. The Manager,Lynn, let her kids do ANYTHING. They were shooting off fireworks at all hours of the night for 3 months straight...and my g/f worked the graveyard shift - so she was always TRYING to sleep untill 9pm....but she never could because of them little fucknuts. I've been trying to get a verification letter from the Mgr. for 2 months now for my 1099 Rent Tax Return (since I'm on Disability & haven't worked in 3 yrs. or more - I can get 20% of the Rent that I paid every year that I've been on Disability UP TO $750 per year...& I already got my $750 check for 2004 for my current residence...If I can just get a letter from the bitch,I'll get $750 more dollars for 2003 - maybe...if not that much,it'll still be a lot...and it's free money for me!!) stating how much we paid for rent, before the housing kicked in & after. ANYWAYS,all in all, there was never any gunshots or killings or anything like that in Powell Terrace. It's just a bunch of lower income people...that's all. I'm sure there's some drugs in the area,of course....but it's nothing like St.Louis at all. I didn't want to move at all, because I had to give up my housing if we moved. My g/f insisted on it,and we've been together 10 or 11 yrs. (I'm 33) now. Hell...it wasn't worth losing her over. I had applied for my Disability AT my attorney's office. My caseworker told me to do it there,& that way I would get it (it's for Chronic Depression...just from a hard life - like parents divorcing when I was 13,& I went w/my Dad who had a Bi-Polar Disorder. I took care of him from when I was about 15 untill he passed away in 1999 (this was all in Irving (Dallas),TX....that's when we moved up here. So,I would just tell people that Powell Terrace is a VERY family - oriented place that has a lot of kids,& is the one place in St.Charles that you'll see much more than just white people. Cops are always driving through there. |
