| Recent Review: | | My girlfriend lived in the brick building in the middle of this property for 2 years.She loved it.After she and I met, we decided to move in to one of the two bedroom townhouse style apartments on the far side of the property (next to the VA hospital).We did this because she had never had problems with bugs, and as tough as she is, she is deathly afraid of bugs.So, we thought moving to another location on the same property would be okay...right?Wrong.Within weeks we started to notice some issues with roaches.We called the management office.They sent a maintenance man over to take a look about two weeks later.Then, about two weeks after that, they sent someone to spray.The roach problem did not end for the duration of our stay, and was one of the reasons that we ended up calling HUD, and other government offices about what we could do about it, since management didn't seem to care, or even want to deal with it.Unfortunately, the government was sympathetic, but could not help us, because the building did not accept section 8, and the building was not going to be condemned.They told us to call a lawyer, which, of course, we could not afford.For a while, we had been hearing noises in the walls as well.Never thought this could happen, but rats had infested the building.How?Well, I walked around our building, and found that there were about 3 entry points big enough for small animals to get in through.I went to the office to tell them that they could easily fix these issues if maintenance would just nail in a 2x4, and use some caulk.They listened as if they cared, then claimed that they would do something about it.Of course, nothing got done until the worst happened...One day we woke up to two awful things.First, the stench.You know, that smell of death.Something had died in the walls, and the smell permeated the apartment.It was a horrible, terrible stench that could only be a dead animal.We went straight to the office, and dragged the witch/head manager over to our place.She actually stood at the front door, and claimed she couldn't smell anything.We had to close the front door, and make her enter the apartment.Then, when the stench was too much for her to bear, and she was wincing, she said she would get someone on it immediately.Of course, then she sent an exterminator the next week, who unbenounced to us, didn't set traps, but did set up poison in the walls...this is where the fun starts.At this point we had yet to see rats...we just heard them scratching, and smelled them.I've heard mice, squirrels, and even bats make noise, but these noises were from something larger.Our proof came one morning in the form of a dying rat on our kitchen floor.Luckily, we got there before our dog did.Although, the rat was just conscious enough to slip back into a hole before we could figure out how to get it the hell out of there.Of course, we then had to endure another dead animal stench throughout the entire apartment again.And, much to our dismay, the management said that they had done 'everything within their powers to fix the problem'.Bring on the roaches.We thought we had roaches before the rats started dying in the walls!The amount of roaches after our unfriendly exterminator |
