| Recent Review: | | Horrible!Don't move here. The apartments are so old and not taken care of.Unfortunately we moved suddenly and didn't have a chance to shop around. If there is something wrong with your apartment (which there will be) they won't fix anything and if they do fix it, it will be months later. We've had the same leak for 8 months now and they won't fix it.We have rotten wood around our window where the leak is and they haven't fixed it.Mold is growing all over the rotten wood and all over the bathroom.I have major health issues since we moved in.Don't do this to yourself. |

| Recent Review: | | The apartments at Nutley Properties are almost 60 years old and they look it. Once, highly sought after by professionals, executives and retirees, it is now a place of last resort.*The apartments have severe cracks in the walls and ceilings that have been poorly repaired over numerous years, old and decaying plaster surfaces are uneven. *The electrical wiring is old, you only can use 15 amp fuses (the apt. standard is 30 to 100 amp fuses). *The coverings on the telephone wires crumble to the touch. *The water and sewage pipes are crumbling, maintenance is forever going into apartments to repair and replace them. The last time they worked on mine it took 4 days to complete the job. *The boilers often go down in the morning, I hope you don't mind cold showers. *Flooring on the second level is loose and noisy from age. *You have to supply your own air conditioner and electrical outlet. Because of the antiquated design of the windows you only can use casement air conditioners, these cost 3 times more than a conventional window unit. *There is no sound-proofing and the noise from the adjoining apartments can be unbearable. *Closet space is minimal. *Due to "underplumbing", the hot and cold water can fluctuate violently resulting in uncomfortable showers. *The kitchen does'nt have a ventilation fan. *Parking is not guaranteed and spaces are limited. *Second floor tenants must cope with squirrels running around the attic above them, and there are periodic outbreaks of roach infestation. One of the maintenance workers is a foster-care parent for an emotionally disturbed child. Tenants have seen the boy crawling in and out of vacant apartments at all times of the day and night. Once inside, he targets the closest apartment with a barrage of noise - management claims this is not occurring.D.Y.F.S. (N.J. Division of Youth & Family Services) has been placing emotionally disturbed/antisocial children with individuals and families in the complex. Most of these foster-care parents are low income minorities who are more concerned with collecting payments from D.Y.F.S. than in supervising the children in their care; as a result, some of these kids lurk in the shadows harassing and stalking unsuspecting tenants (these children display Pervasive Developmental Disorders, one of the deficits of this mental illness being the abnormal fixation on a person or persons). A anonymous source has recently disclosed that this complex is just one of several D.Y.F.S. is working with, which has helped some of us understand the source of our strange encounters. D.Y.F.S. will neither confirm nor deny their involvement, management pleads ignorance, and the suspected guardians won't speak to anyone. Also, rumors have it that Section 8 Vouchers are now being accepted here.Management and maintenance changed hands about two years ago and a clash of cultures ensued. The new employees can be very belligerent, and their lack of language skills just compounds the problem. If you get on their bad side, which is very easy to do, they can become vindictive.I have resided here for 18 years and, even though the complex always looked rather old and lacked modern amenities, management worked hard to make it pleasant and comfortable for everyone. This has now changed, however, and a once charming apartment community, with friendly long-time neighbors and an attentive/respectful management, no longer exists. The quality of life here is rapidly diminishing and my advice is to look elswhere - I am.Enter at your own risk! |
