Recent Review:Avoid this place like the plague! I caught 15 mice during my nine-month tenancy and had to exterminate for bed bugs three times. (Just in case you're not from NYC and wondering, bed bugs are parasitic insects that hide in your bedroom, creep out at night, suck your blood, and go back into hiding.) The landlord refused to pay to have the bed bugs exterminated and I was out $500. My neighbors upstairs made noise all night every night, and I could not sleep. The landlord refused to do anything about it. My apartment was in total disrepair -- three holes in the ceiling -- and the super never fixed it. The landlord is an asshole. The place is a dump. I payed $1500 a month for it, and I would not come back if it were free.

Recent Review:Every day the hot water runs out while you are trying to shower or it randomly comes out scalding hot. The boiler breaks down often during the winter and there is usually not enough heat. There are electrical problems, causing frequent building wide blackouts. There are frequent water leaks in the builidng. The hallways are always dirty and garbage is often piled up in front of the building. The super is never around. The management company does not respond to your complants and they are rude and generally unpleasant (not to mention that they actually lie to you and tell you you are the only one calling and complaining - when you speak to your neighbors, you find otherwise). When repairs are made, they are often done in a shoddy manner or are not completely finished. THERE ARE MORE THAN 180 VIOLATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN ISSUED AGAINST THIS BUILDING BY THE CITY! You can verify this by going to the DHPD page within the NYC.gov wbsite.

Recent Review:This apartment is a very small studio with good size separate kitchen and bathroom. The apartment located on the ground floor facing street (south) and has its heating system built in with the A/C. The building is well maintained and the super is very nice. Most of the time the neighbors are quiet, the guys live across the hall sometimes play loud music, but never after 11:00pm. The room is new and the shape of the apartment is great. But the heater doesn't not work well in the winter and it tends to be pretty cold in the winter. Besides that, I like the apartment a lot.

Recent Review:As with most NYC apartments good service is hard to come by, however the management for this building goes abiove and beyond to neglect and rip-off it's tenants. As a recent college grad I thought this 3rd Fl. walk up was great - until I had a problem with some plumbing that is.Trude is the landlord - a first class shady old lady who refuses to return phone calls. Please do yourself a favor and do not rent a apartment in this UES building. It's not worth the stress. Please - tell all your friends!!!The landlord is crazy and the super is NEVER home to help.

Recent Review:The third bedroom appears to have been at one time part of a walk-thru kitchen, so it is smaller with no closets. As a result, the kitchen is also quite small, just big enough for the appliances. The rest of the apartment is well kept. Beautiful floors, great view, etc...

Recent Review:I have lived in a studio loft in the heart of the upper west side (75th and Broadway) for 4 years. My only complaint is the noise level, which cannot be controlled by the landlord. My apartment building is well-maintained, and it has great amenities such as hardwood floors, fireplaces (some work; others are decorative), laundry facilities on each floor, elevators, 24-hour security, gas stoves. The location is amazing - nestled between 4 supermarkets and 2 subway stations on the 1/2/3/9 line (72nd and 79th St).Compared to most Manhattan rents, mine has been reasonable although it would probably be considered outrageous by anyone outside of the city. That is, however, a cost of living in Manhattan.I would highly recommend Astor Place to anyone looking for a great location, cozy apartment, and reliable security staff.

Recent Review:Not only was this building disgusting in terms of rodents, hygeine, and odors, but it was overpriced. We paid 2695/month for a one bedroom we converted into two.The management is very slow to fix anything, and the doormen are rude and unforgiving. The apartment just across the street is much nicer for the same price.
