Recent Review:I lived in this apartment complex for one whole year (July 03-July 04) and I couldn't wait to move out. I would have moved out at least 3 months earlier if they didn't ask 2 months of rent for moving out early. This was my first apartment renting experience in suburbs and this complex charmed me with its pretty environment. It has a lot of trees and very charming Club House with a seemingly perfect tennis court. This seemed to be the best option available around given the price.I rented a one-bedroom apartment on a second floor. Since the apartment was looking over a bunch of trees, the lighting was not so good. We had to turn the lights on during the day to have enough light in the apartment. Leasing office shows an example apartment which is already decoreated by them when you ask them to see a sample apartment. Don't let this happen to you, ask to see the apartment that YOU are going to live in before signing anything. When I was leaving there, the management changed 2 times. Everytime there was a problem, the new management blamed the old one. You might read at some places that this apartment complex was renovated recently. If fresh coat of paint outside and inside the buildings count as renovations, then they are renovated. The buildings are very old. They are made out of wood, so expect lots of bugs entering your apartment from the greenery outside. The airconditiong/heating system is very old too. I think they were last updated in 70s. It makes a lot of noise, takes forever to warm up and you end up with huge electric bill every month.Whenever my neighbor downstairs turned his airconditioning on, we would hear it loud and clear in our apartment. Whenever he cooked something, our apartment would fill out with the smell of the food he was cooking. The air circulation in the buildings are very outdated. My toilet over flowed 2 times. They said they fixed it the first time but then it over floated one more time. They told me they weren't sure of the problem and were going to look into it.Mostly, the roofing is a big problem. I moved in July and the roof started leaking with September rains. The leaks were OK at first; I could notice some areas dampining in the ceiling but once the rain stopped they were OK. I complained about this and wanted them to fix it before the real rainy season came. They said they would fix it. When I called back, they said it was fixed. Then the winter came and the ceiling on my bedroom started to leak and drip into my closet. Again, I asked it to be fixed and they said they were going to look into it. We passed whole winter back and forth, they telling me they fixed the roof and me insisting on that the ceiling was still leaking. The last incident that happened in July 04 was my queue to exit. The little dripping in my bedroom closet turned into a very big water pool across my whole ceiling. The water was dripping onto my bed, the carpet etc. I had to cover my bed with plastic trash bags so that it didn't get wet. I had to sleep in the living room for 2 weeks. During this process, I continously asked the management to fix the roof. They kept saying they were working on it, but nothing seemed to improve. I finally realized that they were waiting for other people to complain to call the roofers to fix it since it would have been very costly for them to call them just for one apartment. Then finally one rainy day everything got out of hand. My whole bedroom ceiling was dripping due to heavy rain and my living room ceiling was about to come down on me. I went to the managemet office, bagged them to do something to fix the roof before everyhting was covered with water. After hours of bagging and crying, they wanted to come to my apartment and see the situation. I guess they were still thinking I was making a big deal out of it. When she walked into my apartment, the manager was terrified with what she saw. She couldn't believe to the extent of the damage. She immediatley called the maintanance guy, sent him to the roof even though it was raining very hard (this was one of their excuse before, they would have to wait for the rain to stop to start working on the roof and rain never seemed to stop) and whatever he did in 10 minutes stopped the leaking. I was out of the building in the next 10 days.I took tons of pictures before I leave the apartment in case they decided not to return my secrutiy deposit. It was an experience from hell. If you think you don't have enough worries in your life and need these kind of problems to worry yourself, go ahead and rent an apartment in this complex.
