Recent Review:Folks,I always took the reviews on this site with a grain of salt, as it is more likely that there is a review if a person has had a bad experience. Similarly, if the review sounds too good to be true, I would have to admit that it sounds plausible for the management to have written it. I wanted to give Kensington Park a fair review, but that was before my move-out experience. Here goes:Our apartment was a One Bedroom, Study, One bath unit. We stayed there from September 2004 through March 2005.The Good:-1) The apartment units were well furnished (appliances, etc), though below par in comparison to the more luxurious units my wife and I were used to in Irving.2) Maintenance staff were professional and efficient in fixing problems. Kudos to Roy!The Bad:-1) This apartment community is pricey, with a pretty expensive add-on fee if you are considering a garage (we found the storage space in the apartment to be below average).2) The management team was extremely superficial, and this showed through and through during our stay.3) The apartment is badly insulated, both in terms of temperature as well as noise. We now officially believe that we have learnt to play the Saxophone, thanks to our friendly neighborhood amateur sax player upstairs.4) The community does indeed have a bug problem, more so than other apartments. This could be attributed to its proximity to a field/park.The Worst:-1) Our move-out experience: My wife and I are sticklers for cleanliness, and we spent a whole 24 hours scrubbing, mopping, dusting, and cleaning up the apartment to bring it back to "move-in" condition. With a $150 deposit on the line, we did not want to lose a cent. Little did we know that the cent was all we were going to get back. We had small lovebirds in a cage in the study area, and they did not leave this room. We made sure that we cleaned the wall behind the cage to where there was not a spot left. The apartment staff said that the wall had been damaged beyond repair (in both the study and the "living room"), and that the birds had done it! Unless these small birds intentionally unlocked themselves out of their cage and bit huge chunks off the wall paint, this is the most cockamamy story that has ever been pitched to us. What is worse is that they said they had to paint the whole apartment, and charged us $112 for it. When I asked to see the apartment, they said that someone had already moved in. I dont know about you guys, but this has got to be the greediest and most animal-unaware community out there.2)Last but not the least, we stayed for 2 days in April due to move-in constraints in our new home, and Kally (one of the leasing agents) told us that we owed the apartment $61. Although we promptly paid this, they charged us $3 in our move-out statement. I broke my head to figure out what this charge was for, and finally worked it out. Apparently, it costs $50 more to go on a month-to-month lease. Pro-rating this $50 increase to two days made the rent due to be $64 (instead of the $61). Come on! Can you get any greedier than that?Summary:-Unless you are a kensington park fan for whatever reason, please move in to another apartment complex. The headache that the management there will cause you (Kally, Julie, and Carrie) will eventually make you want to leave anyways. Also, since we have openly named the lousy staff, it is only fair that we sign off with our contact information as well.
