Houston  TX, 77082

Recent Review:I found that the gates being stuck open are indictative of a 30 year old property.Newer communities neighboring the creek also have the same problems and are newer! The crime rate in comparison to its newer neighbors are suprisingly lower.Armed robberies and burglaries are not exactly an isolated incident in any city. The value for the dollar is great! Every other apartment that age in the area is far more run down and overun with hoods and thieves.I loved living there all 5 years.

Recent Review:The location is great. The other apartments in the area cost more and are usually smaller.Having a supermarket (Randall's) right across the street is a major convenience. The apartments themselves are basic, but nice. The gym is a little small, all the exercise machines may be taken during the after work hours. The pool area is clean and good for sunbathing and light swimming. The parking garage is a death trap, if only people would drive slowly and on the right hand side. But you can't blame the apartment complex for idiots in their pricey BMW's flying around the corners like kamikazes. The maintenance crews are quick to respond and fix issues quickly. The office staff is a little slow, both physically and mentally. The neighborhood is a little iffy, there are usually people asking for money standing around the supermarket, gas station, and bus station that's located a few blocks away.No major crime though, I've walked the streets alone at night plenty of times. The apartments facing the interior are quiet, unless there's a party at the pool and the people just HAVE to have a radio cranked. The apartments facing the exterior get a good amount of road noise (I'm interior). The cable and internet access are through Phonoscope.Good basic channel selection and fast, reliable internet access.Been living here for 2 years, just renewed the lease for another year. The cost & location can't be beat.

Recent Review:This is the most unsafe property. And whats interesting is that the negative reviews about it are simply wiped off on this website. The management is very very poor...their fixtures are low and poor quality. Leakages are very common in bathroom and kitchen. And on the top of that robberies. Roberries are very frequent here. On an average, at least 4 apartments are broken every month.Management is rude and irresponsible.Their gates are always broken. Please recommend this property only to your enemies.

Recent Review:You can see my full detailed review at apartmentratings.com. Suffice it to say this complex is a lovely place to live, as long as there are no problems. However, if there are ever any issues with rent / contracts / packages / etc, expect NOTHING from the management. Not only will they fail to help you, they will actually make it worse by giving you several different answers to the same question, *always* to your disadvantage. If there is absolutely nowhere else to live and you end up here, NEVER rely on the office staff for anything, and get all information in writing as well as the name of the person you are dealing with.

Recent Review:I recently ran into this experience. I work the hours the leasing office is open. I went to drop my rent in the night drop box and there was a sign that saidNO CHECKS. Since I could not turn the rent in at the box and could not hand over the rent in person, I was not able to pay my rent on time. I eventually had to miss some work to turn it in in-person and got stuck with a $50 late fee. The New management denied that there was a sign there and refused to discuss it.When I came back later that day to photograph the sign, the sign was gone. This all took place between the first and the 3rd of the month. Every place I have ever stayed the rent was to be turned in anytime between the 1st and the 5th. If you are not paid on the first of the month, (I am paid on the 2nd or 3rd sometimes, I work for a small business) prepare to get screwed.Management also threatened to lock my roommate and I out because we were 2 dollars short on our rent/ water bill. We were unaware of what our water bill because we never received it. We still have not received that water bill. The also disallowed my roommate and I to get a Satellite dish for satellite TV. They said they do not allow them to be mounted to the building. That would be fine if my next-door neighbor did not have one up that the leasing office is aware of and allows. My truck has been broken into and my prescription sunglass and CDs were stolen. The Apartment itself is fine. We have a dishwasher, one that is going on 20 years old but it still is working ok. There is no oven timer on the oven. There are a few other little oddieties that really do not bother me, it is the over zealous management that really makes the complex unbearable.Id lists my e-mail address if I did not still have six months left on my lease. Damn that roommate who talked me into signing an 18-month lease (lol). As soon as my lease is up I am out of here and I am not looking back.Save yourself a headache and stay away from here. The previous management was a joy to work with. Kelli Cool I miss you. The new management makes living here a pain.Another site and their review of Camden Wilshire:http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/TX-Houston-Camden-Wilshire.html

Recent Review:We have lived here for about 8 months. Our gutters are full and when it rains the water pours onto you as you go down the steps. We have asked to have it fixed 4 times and we do not get any type of response.Teenagers run all over the place at all hours carrying guns and the office will not do anything about it.They are letting anyone move in and the thugs are coming out of the woodwork. One resident opened his door to walk his dog and had a gun pointed in his face. The cops are out here at least once a week.It doesn't do any good to complain because they just don't care.My neighbor has cockroaches all over her apartment, the bug spraying guy comes every week and still cannot get rid of them. This is not a place you want to live with children unless you want them running with a bunch of unruly teenagers that smoke, and are destructive to the property.

38. Castlewood Apartments
7000 Westview Drive
Houston  TX, 77055

Recent Review:Well castlewood, here's the basics I moved in at the beginning of september, it's now middle january, in this short time I've been bugged about a bicycle out side my door, but the totaled-out car in the middle of the parking lot has been left untouched, I've seen a man shot dead in his tracks less than 50 feet from my door, if it wasn't for my cousin's cat we would have a serious roach problem, (cat eats roaches, don't know why and don't care). Unless you just need somewhere to sleep I wouldn't even think about reccomending this place, even then I'd think twice.
39. Cedar Branch Apartments
1217 Blalock
Houston  TX, 77055
14.0
Recent Review:This older apartment community is broken into 2 complexes on either side of Cedar Post Lane south of Westview and just west of Blalock. The property has ample, though small laundry facilities, pools, somewhat limited but mostly covered(some uncovered) unassigned parking, and is fenced and gated.Maintenance for plumbing has been prompt, and I have had no problems with roaches, or other vermin, as they regularly spray. The outer appearance may seem a bit weathered, but the interiors and appliances are in fairly good condition though not new (after visiting some neighbor's units)and have amenities such as dishwasher, disposal, and ceiling fans. Both DSL and Cable internet are available.Local area shopping is very convenient, with Randall's across the street, Fiesta just south, and Memorial City mall within bicycling distance (but beware the sidewalks and crazy drivers).Banking is close (in Randall's Wells Fargo, Fiesta has Citibank, or nearby other branches on Blalock or south on feeder of I-10). This complex is close to I-10, but not on it, although in the coming year(s) there will be some construction to expand I-10 in the Spring Branch area that may cause some access delays then.It is also close to the beltway and 290.The community seems very safe and has an Hispanic family basis that makes itself at home with gatherings and music, and happy children playing futbol in the common areas after school. They are usually respectful, and exterior noises don't usually continue after reasonable hours.(the ceilings may be a bit thin and allow reverberating rumbles and window shaking when the family upstairs is running around after children, or Hubby/Mummy has to get up early in the morning and inconsiderately stomps around clumsily. Or runs from one end of the apartment to the other for whatever unknown mission. Or throws bundles of heavy objects around at odd hours creating more shock waves that rattle ceiling fans and windows... this is my greatest peeve obviously#@*^%so check on where you are going to live if you like to sleep past 5:30 am...)Family seems to be the rule here, but a few older couples and singles are in the friendly mix.Police are never highly visible in the area, but not absent either.I have been out in the area at various times even until early morning and have never noticed any problems with loitering or roving, and gang tags are on some local businesses, but aren't overtly engaging or threatening (no thugs out to back them up).The #72 bus route runs north on Blalock and the #20 is close on Longbranch, so if you don't feel like driving, mass transit is a breeze.Overall, this is not a bad place to live due to the location and responsiveness of the staff, along with the safe and friendly family atmosphere, although if you are looking for a primped newer resort, this is definitely not it.Oh yeah, be prepared to wade or jump over puddles and streams if it rains real good, because the inner courtyards don't seem to have adequate drainage (but this is a common problem with Houston in general.resident 2003-2004
