Alexandria  VA, 22304

Recent Review:I just recently moved to Jamestown Village and I have to admit the professionalism they offered me from day one has been excellent. They are more than rental office people they are great people! I am disabled and it has always been scary for me to think about moving but the people of Jamestown Village helped me overcome my fears. Thank you Jamestown.
12. Meadow Woods Apts.
Lockheed Blvd
Alexandria  VA, 22306

Recent Review:The only thing good about Meadow Woods is that the rent is relatively cheap (for the Northern Virginia area).I thought this place was safe but I saw a bunch of guys smash out the windows of a car in the parking lot in broad daylight.I notified the rental office and they didn't do anything about it.There's also the roaches and paper thin walls (as I write this I can hear my neighbor snoring upstairs...I can also hear whole conversations of my neighbors)

Recent Review:If I did not have to move to another city, I would not leave. This apartment complex is convenient to shopping, metro, working in D.C. and anything else you might need. It has a nice atmosphere, wonderful professional property management staff and is VERY affordable. My apartment has a view of an actual creek.I love it here.I'm really sorry I have to leave.

Recent Review:apartment was nice but the management sucked.I had the hot water heater in the apartment leak twice. Both time the management offered no apologies no rent reimbursement eventhough I had to find another place to live for a few days.
15. Meridian At Braddock
1200 First Street
Alexandria  VA, 22314

Recent Review:This is by far the worst place I have ever lived-it makes the slumlords we deal with in college seem like the Ritz.In short, the management staff is extremly rude and you will never get the same story about anything if you talk to more than one. However, the catcher is when they received a job offer in a Fed Ex Priority Overnight envelope on Thursday, August 26th at 9:15 am, and did not notify me until between 6 and 10 pm on Monday, August 3oth.The offer was almost rescinded as I was supposed to reply within 3 days-which according to the tracking number was 4 days before it was actually in my hands.
16. Mt. Vernon Square Apartments
2722 Arlington Dr.
Alexandria  VA, 22306

Recent Review:If you are looking for basic shelter, don't mind roaches and possums chasing you, then Mt. Vernon Square is the place for you.I have lived there almost 1 year. After my lease is up I am outtie!!!ROACHESWhen I first moved in I noticed dead roaches throughout the apartment.Being the open minded individual I am, I thought "Maybe it's becuase the just exterminated, at least they're dead."That was definitely not the case.A roach even crawled on my roomate while she was sleeping. That wa the last straw. We were relocated to a different apartment in the complex. The second apartment was alot better, but after a few weeks the roaches came back. Again being open minded I thougt "Combat will help."Needless to say, it didn't.Then I realized, when you live in an apartementwhere the trash is not placed in a proper recepticle, these kinds of things happens.TRASHIn a normal apartment comples you place you trash in a "dumpster."Not at Mt. Vernon Square. You place the trash outside, in a parking spot marked with a "T" for trash.Often times I would come home and see racoons, rats and possums going through the trash.I was even chased by a possum twice.

Recent Review:I have lived at this property almost two years now as a renter.Overall for me the convenience has outweighed the downside of living here.I am listing the pros and cons below.Even though the rental has worked out OK for me, I would not recommend this property to someone considering buying a home ebcause the CONS outweigh the PROS.PROs:Convenience-- Convenient location at 395 and King Street-- My two cats were welcomeAmenities-- Fitness center (small but adequate)-- Pool-- Covered parking (no scraping snow off your windshield)CONs:Package Delivery Arrangements-- Appartments have only tiny mail boxes.Only standard letter mail will fit; even some large envelopes are too large.-- Although the property management office would sign for packages and keep them in a room for you if delivered during working hours when the property was managed by Archstone, the new company will not accept any packages/deliveries.You must make your own arrangements to be home, re-deliver, or pick up from the post office/shipper.Leaky parking Lot for Buildings 3 & 4-- I have had no security problems and do not feel unsafe.-- However the lot is poorly constructed and leaks whenever it rains/snow melts.-- Archstone initiated a construction project to waterproof the lot, which meant the courtyard was ripped up and construction going on for most of the time I have been at the complex, but the garage still leaks.-- The leaks have come through layers of concrete and construction material and the resultant caustic fluid can damage the paint on your car.-- Although during the time I have been renting we were free to park in any open space in this lot, under the condo regime you will be stuck with a deeded space (two for the two bedroom and den model) and if you are unlucky enough to get a leaky one (and there are a number of those) there will be no alternative for you to parking in it.Property Management Hours-- Under Archstone the property management office was open Saturdays and also until 7 pm.-- The new management cancelled the Saturday hours and intially was open no later than 6 pm, which meant anyone with a job would have to take off work to go see them.-- The property management office then summoned everyone to come and pick up parking stickers, without making arrangements for better hours.-- I protested and the hours have been extended to 7 pm most evenings, but still no Saturday hours.-- Archstone also had online work orders for maintenance, but the new company does not.-- So if something goes wrong in your apartment or you need to speak to the management, you will most likely have to call from work or take time off to deal with it.Inflexible Floor Plans-- I have a two bedroom plus den.-- It looked good on paper and was OK for temproary rental, but the design is very limiting and would drive me nuts over the long term.-- There is only one place in the living area where the TV can go (because of placement of doors, windows. outlets and cable hook ups).So I cannot move the furniture around for a new look.-- The master closet opens out of the bathroom not the bedroom, so you risk misdew/water damage to delicate clothes.-- The master bedroom is not rectangular, it has a strange slanted wall on one corner (den is on other side) which means there is only one possible orientation for my king size bed.Even a full size would have been a tight fit in any other orientaton.-- The cable hookup in the master bedrom is placed on the same wall as the one the bed must rest against, so there is no conveneinet way to hook up a TV wihtout tripping over the cord (barring some long cord attached with bracktes to the wall over the bathroom door and alf way around the room).-- The bathrooms are tiny and do not provide much space for hampers/storage units.-- The hall closet by the front door is miniscule, really too small for coats.-- There is no linen closet.-- The den looks cute on paper but it is the oddest shaped room you will ever find, all bizarre angles and walls of odd lengths.I am trying to use it as an office, but finding furniture to fit the design is a challenege, and not worth it for someone who is not permanent. If you have the same idea. take measurements and compatre to your office furniture and you will see the problems making it fit.Sidewalk Maintenance in WInter-- They don't put down salt on the walkways. If you walk to the bus stop, you rik slipping on the frequent dangerous ice.Noise Level-- My cats ger excited by the noises form overhead,; they think the epiple walkign around are mice in the attic.-- You do hear doors slamming, etc.-- Sitting in my living room I clearly hear normal conversations in the hall; assume everyone hears all my phone converstaions.Quality of Workmanship-- The molding over my door and the stirps along the floow in the walk way cam loose within weeks of moving in.-- The carpet is the cheapest possible and very poorly installed -- I see frayed edges sticking up in several places.
18. Parcview
5380 Holmes Run Parkway
Alexandria  VA, 22304

Recent Review:I'm a former Marine that was recalled to active duty living at Parcview. I was sent to Iraq as an infantryman. While getting shot at and serving my country my fiance e-mailed me and told me that my car was going to get towed. Why? Because it had gotten broken into and the window was shattered, radio gone along with some other items. My car was a stick so she could not drive it. The apartment manager wanted to tow it even after she explained the situation to him he did not care, she had put plastic on the window but that was not good enough. Because i voiced my rights on this he is now trying to charge me for carpet and walls even after he signed the inspection paper. Also trash and dog crap is laying around and there is a good supply of bugs in the hallway. The security sucks that neighborhood has gone very bad and is getting worse. On my 2 cars alone i have had stolen all my chrome valve stem covers, wing bolt cover, radio, speakers, and 4 window breaks. If anything support your troops and dont move here we are fighting for your freedom the last thing we need is to worry about our car being towed.

Recent Review:I am in the middle of a short-term lease at POA. I rented here because this was the first place I came across that did short-term leases and I didn't have much time to look. Next time, I'll know better to get a motel room and not rent before I see a place. The other reviews are right, except that I would not say to only live here if you can tolerate a lot, because I am a pretty tolerant person and I was at the end of my rope less than a month in. Here's the short list:-- There are three elevators for 200+ apartments, but at least one is always broken and management never notices.-- It took them FOUR DAYS to realize one of the front door locks was broken so the door wouldn't open. It took TWO WEEKS to get one lightbulb for my apt that should've been replaced before I moved in.-- The air conditioning to common areas and elevators is often lacking or broken, and the sparcity of and placement of units within the apartments makes them virtually ineffective at the hotter parts of the days.-- They say they don't tolerate littering and loitering inside or out, but if you are a single-looking female, you better get used to staring and comments. And everyone needs to watch their step -- I never go out in just sandals or flip flops. Glass is a BIG problem.-- My apartment door does not shut properly and I have been complaining since day one due to the security issue, but no impact. Same with the spiders and roaches, leaking knobs in the shower, doors that don't shut, and outlets covers and thermostats that aren't screwed down. And that's just the stuff I want taken care of.-- Speaking of the bugs: My apartment was supposed to be sprayed last week but clearly wasn't (just ask the 4 spiders and two roaches I've seen and/or killed since then). They do the hallways and don't enter apts, no matter what they say, but they'll tell you it's a $50 fine if they find a can of Raid in the apt because it counteracts their efforts.-- Last week, after a month's occupancy, I found out nothing has been fixed supposedly because mgt didn't have a key to my apartment. There is only one key?! What if I'd been locked out somehow -- automatic locksmith charge because THEY lost their copy? They made another one that day, but it's been a week and still nothing's changed.BIG PICTURE: Don't move here. The staff is friendly, but that's just a cover to deflect complaints. Between the loiterers, broken glass on the sidewalks and my broken front door, I don't feel safe living here on a variety of levels. And there is a lot of parking, but only 20 covered spaces and no garages. And unlike more reputable places, there is no out written into the lease (ex: 30 days to terminate without penalty if you change your mind). Probably wouldn't be able to keep too many tenants if they did.

Recent Review:Since the notice of the renovations to the buildings management has been reluctant/slow to give current tenants info about the renovations. Plus they are instituting a new $4 charge for trash pickup. They are not giving any discount for renewing leases. If you renew the lease it is at the current market rate $939.00 and may be increased more up to $30 more than the market rate unless you sign the lease by a certain date determined by the management. Heating and cooling units are very old and inefficient so beware of additional fees for electric use. Water is constantly being shut off for repairs. Windows and doors of apartments are not energy efficient so your some of your heating and cooling energy goes out the window. It takes a long time to heat or cool an apartment.BEWARE this place has a lot of noisy children and college students that do not understand the meaning of peace and quiet after 10pm. That also goes for people who are driving in the parking lots with music blasting out of their cars.Management make great efforts to clean and beautify the grounds and public areas of the building but in the hallways on some floors the carpeting is worn, nasty, badly stained and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Yet the hallways are vacuumed almost every day. What good does that do if the carpets are nasty and stained? Not a good impression left with people who come to visit you. Also a new security system for building access was installed but was found defective and hasn't been fixed yet so people can just walk on the property, into the building and up to your apartment door with out anything stopping them. Yes management was suppose to fix holes in the fencing around the property but there are still holes and cars continue to be stolen. Management isn't really listening to tenants suggestions to make the place better. They just want to get current tenants out.DO Inspect the apartment you may want to rent before you sign on the dotted line. The move-in promise is a joke. There are still things that I reported when I moved in that still have not been fixed even after I have called and reminded them that repairs had not been made - bad follow through on their part. DO NOT rent anything near the party rooms - the parties can get very loud. Some bathrooms do not have a grab bar so that hold on to it as you get out of your bathtub.DO NOT THINK ABOUT LIVING HERE UNLESS YOU CAN GET A WRITTEN GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL NOT BOOT YOU OUT BEFORE THE END OF YOUR LEASE. If you can't get that look somewhere else. CAVEAT PREEMPTORE - RENTER BEWARE
