Review: Most apartment complexes have rude or uninterested people working in their offices here in Phoenix, but I can say from experience that the Desert Gardens staff was willing to work with my roommate and I through every step. Even though we are paying the maximum FULL FIRT MONTHS RENT to move in they made it seem as though it were just a stepping stone to a new world. I am sure they will make our stay at Desert Gardens a pleasure!!!Thank You,Nada Michaud

Review: My husband and I move in those apt the year of 2000 and we stayed untill the year of 2003. I would never tell any good things about those apt. Everybodys cars were getting broken into everyweekend. The rent is to high for that place. We had to fight to get a new dish washer. We finally got one when my son started to walk and he took a fall. I was one P cookie. They finally looked it up and it was five years old. We had a real problem with cigrate smoke. It came threw the carpat and the bathrooms. I hate that smell. Thank god we are out of there. Please go somewhere else trust me. You will thank me later.

Review: If you don't mind not being able to find parking or being without hot water or water at all you would love this place but if you like being able to take a shower when you want I woudn't suggest this place. The parking is horrible we have two cars one parking okay fine but to have to park at the oppisite side of the complex because other people have 4 cars for one apartment Come on people not to mention the fact that not everyone can use the pool oh no. Have small kids? Swim diapers wont work here nope they still wont let you child in the pool. There just isn't one good thing to say about this place I would keep looking if I were you

Review:Don't believe them when they say they are a luxury community.When we first moved in here the grounds were beautiful and I did consider these apartments luxury.Now since Greystar has taken over the property has fallen into disrepair.The landscaping is not maintained properly, the awnings over the covered parking are not repaired well, and theCourtesy Patrolis never seen patrolling.The management staff is rude and unprofessional.We have lived here three years and within the last year more and more questionable people have been allowed to rent.Personally I have heard gunshots as well as very loud parties and tenants yelling, screaming, and fighting at two oclock in the morning.The police are here quite often.We are located close to a few colleges but this would not be the place to live if you expectA place to relax and rejuvenate beside tranquil, cool waterorA perfect sanctuary from the busy worldas quoted from their website.

Review: I have lived in this complex since 2002.I have lived in both one bedroom and the two bedroom.Both are very spacious with lots of room for storage.Price is reasonable considering the area that they are located in.Washer and Dryer (full size) comes with every apartment.Not alot of "criminal" activity here, they do a good job weeding out the bad folk.Since the new company took over the security patrols, lots of changes for the good.They come by several times a night, in Marked cars.The gates are now closed full time, vs when I moved here in 2002 they were open while the office was open.Management has changed a few times, however the crew they got now, are excellent.Repairs are done within 24 hrs of being notified, unless there is a request to not enter the apartment when people are not home, those are done every Wednesday.I like the convience of the freeway, however you do hear the traffic if you are close to 79th avenue.anywhere else, not alot of noise at all.Noisy tennants are often caught by security patrols before they get out of hand.Garages available, and often go for less than what they price at.Security Gate does have a clicker option, not widely advertised, only by word of mouth.Landscaping is great.We are approaching Summer heat, and I've noticed alot of HUGE beatles at the shopping mall, or grocery stores around the area, however NONE seen here.Transferring from 1 to 2 bedroom, or another Archstone complex across the US, is very easy and requires no deposits.I love that fact that they hold packages for you when you are not home.There is alot of fun activities planned for adults and kids monthly.Pools are very clear, no damage, even a great waterfall.There is a resort style gym, which I use alot...Several different people here, I've seen elderly to newly married, to single, to group of friends renting together.My neighbors watch out for me, since I live alone.

Review: Very nice complex but it's fair to expect a bit more, particularly exterior maintenance like the other reviewer mentioned. The longer you put things off, the worse they get and it detracts from the entire property. What's with all the expired car registrations too?Overall it's a very nice propery with good management, but they need to walk the property more and take care of the little things like window and door screens, lights, dumpsters, GIANT ROACHES, expired license plates, filthy cars that sit for months without being moved (stolen, abandoned?), etc.I hope management stays on top of things, I'm a long term resident that is getting a little concerned that this 5 year old property is starting to look much older. That's a shame because it's a well built and nice looking property. Get it together management!I do recommend it however, it's much nice than most of it's competition. I have looked and decided to stay put, but I still have concerns that they should address soon.

Review: I can't believe that other people feel the way i feel, i am not the only one that feels this way! This a horrible, filty, disgusting place to live, we just moved here from out of state and didn't know how bad it was in this complex! We lived here for a couple of months now and we been through hell, we are an intelligent family, both my parents work and we did not know how bad this complex was until we moved here! The management is very rude and nasty! My AC is not working and they said everyone else is not working, what am i paying rent for? There are drug dellers here and drug additcs and people that have been in jail before! The pool was closed down because of the Health Department because it wasn't reaching average standrands and when we tell ask these retards when the pool will be open againthey are very nasty, my mom and my sister and me were just in that pool a couple of days ago, who knows what was in that pool! People are moving like flies and we are getting the hell out of here very soon! PLEASE DON'T RENT HERE!!! IT IS A VERY HORRIBLE AND DANGEROUS AREA! THAT WE WISH WE KNEW BEFORE WE MOVED HERE!!! I am so upset about that whole thing! I hope those two b!thches die for all the pain they cause my family! If you want to live in a ghetto and be disrespected and live like a pig then you found the right place!! Thank youJessica

Review: My husband and I lived there for six months and we had nothing but problems. The staff was very helpful. We had a problem with roaches and they sent a bug sprayer out twice a week. Also while we lived there the AC went out and the apartments were evacuated. A few months later the water was turned off in the apartment complex and we were evacuated again. This was a real pain especially since I was pregnant at the time. It was an experience I will never forget.

Review: I have lived at Cantamar for more than two years.I have to agree with the negative reviews on this site.The management company at this complex needs to review renters laws as well as take lessons in professional conduct.I think there is much improvement that could be made with the way this company (Skywest) treats renters after they move in.I had problems with neighbors on many occasions that would violate complex rules and the management company would not do anything about it.I also had problems getting them to make repairs that would cost money and all they would do is come out and take a look at the problem, agree there was one, but do nothing about actually repairing it. Beware of these people as in my opinion they will probably not stand up for your rights or even ackowledge that you have any if you have any problems with your neighbors or the management.Someone by the name of Ryan wrote a review on 4/28 and gave the apartment community a straight 5 star rating across the board.I would find this rating hard to be believable and find it also a bit coincidental that Ryan is the name of the security guard that lives on the property with his wife.I wonder if someone had him write this or if his review is serious since he has a bit of a conflict of interest? No apartment complex is perfect.Speaking of security, if you call at the wrong times, they may not answer for a few days if you call at the wrong times.Often you are left waiting for a reaction to what you say to a recording and the event you called about may be well over by the time someone responds.Other neighbors there report problems with "peeping Toms" that the management will not do anything about and I have heard this directly from at least one person that was "peeped" upon and complained about it numerous times without effect.Cars broken into or vandalized are also a too common event here and some neighbors have attributed this the back gate being left open at night when it should be locked.I have seen it left open myself and have had minor vandalism done to my car.Stories from other residents are more nightmarish (see this and other sites that rate this apartment complex).There are problems with noise on the property as well as parking.There is only enough room for so many cars and the lot is often full.If you have visitors at the wrong time they may have to park many blocks away in the residential neighborhood and walk quite a distance. I was also ticketed by apartment security while moving some heavy boxes one night for parking in a fire lane.Ther just wasn't any place else to unload from.How are you supposed to move without any place to park? Verify by counting the spare spaces that are not covered by the roofs.Some buildings only have a couple of open spaces in addition to the reserved covered spaces.There are also too many dog owners for such a small property and not enough grass areas for them.If you like the smell of dog urine or the sight of un-picked up dog feces, you will like it here.They also bark quite often. There are also trash problems that go on for weeks at a time.You may have to view an old couch or refrigerator for many months before they spend the money for someone to pick it up. I have also heard of a "cares" team that has never spoken to me the entire time I was there so I can't say what that is about.Their newsletters mention they will stop by to all of the new residents but they never did. You can believe my opinion based from personal experience or the straight 5.0 opinions left by questionable sources?

Review: I never had anything broken into and never had a problem with any nieghbors, but the management sucks.I have been here for 7 months and the upstairs still leaks into my apartment.And they still have not finished painting a section of a building after 2 months.Another thing that really sucks is you can not buy out your contract.I have never heard of a management company not allowing that.Its quiet for older single adults.

Review: The apartments are pretty decent in this complex.The management on the other hand leaves much to be desired.They are difficult to work with, and do not go the extra mile to make you want to stay or move into this complex.It usually takes several phone calls or visits to the rental office to get them to send maintenence to an apartment, especially if it is not an emergency.They will also make you pay for a full months rent even if you only stay for part of that of that month.This is true whether or not you give them a 30 day notice that you are moving out.I am paying for the entire month of June even though I am leaving on the 10th of the month.If you are looking for an apartment in the Glendale area, I recommend you take your business where it is appreciated.It is clearly not appreciated here.

Review: You would think from the area that this complex is in that it would be a nice place.You would be wrong.The complex is full of both drug pushers and users and there are children left running around constantly who have never been taught respect.The management and maintenance staff are nice, but the (dare I say) class of people who they rent to leaves much to be desired.It is a questionable environment at best, and I would say unacceptable for a family with young children.

Review: Maryland Gardens Apartments is an awful place to live.1.The apartments are falling apart!Everything that can leak does.I have had problems with the toilet, dishwasher, kitchen sink, and refrigerator.Maintenance temporarilty repairs everything with tin foil.This usually works for about a week and then takes another week for maintenance to arrive with more tin foil and duct tape.The air conditioner breaks, but absolutely can not be repaired until 24 hours later.This is great when it is over 100 degrees in your apartment during the summer.2.The property management consists of nothing, but rude and argumentative people.This has occured with the many property managers and companies.In my experience we have had 4 different companies and at least 6 different property managers over the past 2 years. Unfortunately, there has been very few that could help you or accomplish anything.The current manager seems to have no clue of what is going on and instead of trying to fix the many problems with the complex, she denies the problems and argues over it.Her assistant isn't any better - she doesn't know any english and just nods her head no matter what you are saying.3. Roaches! Roaches! Roaches!If you like bugs this is the place for you.They are everywhere.It doesn't matter how clean you keep this place or how many times it is fumigated.4.SafeyIf you do drugs, I would recommend shooting up with the heroine addicts that do so by the dumpsters every night.If you sell drugs, you will do great here.People constantly approach you in there neverending search for weed and meth.I have had my car stolen once and broken into twice.Last year, the maintenance guy here stole the rent checks, all the apartment keys, and disappeared.With all these wonderful problem you would think we would have a security guard, but we don't.There is a nifty yellow gate that blocks 1 entry way to the parking lot.This can deter criminals who are too stupid to enter in the other 2 entry ways or just walk across the grass into the parking lot and complex.
